Hi all!

Do you know what kind of interior wall texture this is? I'm patching up a hole in this 2003 house. I thought it maybe was orange peel (fine), but does not seem to match up with pictures I've seen.

Hope you can help. Thank you!

Welcome.

The texture was applied with a high-pressure texture machine, and it appears as if the mixture has too much water, therefore they runs.

Using texture products available from local vendors, you'll be loath too match.

So this is easy or hard to match for a homeowner DIY project? Or do I need to hire a professional? Thank you!

It depends upon how adventurous you are.

There are many number of devices available; Amazon.com : professional texture gun

Some are compressor driven, and are also available to rent.

The value in a purchase is the probability of repetition, as well as, versatility's for other applications.

For me, since I've sold most of my tools, I'd rent, but P/U a couple 2'X2' drywall pieces for practice, and a container of patching paste and go for it.

Or you could purchase and resell.

Also, if you DIY, as part of the application, don't just concentrate upon the patch area, but as you apply, move away and broadcast the application, so that it blends.

That will be a tough one to duplicate. Looks really thinned out versus a knock down finish.
Depending on how big of an area you need to do, you can buy a spray can worth and play with it.

Appreciate your advice. The house is approx 4500 sqft and this texture is all throughout with no visible variations. Which tells me (I think) it was a texture selected on purpose back when house was built in 2003.

As a DIY project it sure does seem difficult to match like you said.....but surely a professional painter could do it, right?
