Any economists out there? Brian Deese seemingly relates our high gas prices with the future of the liberal world order and says we have to stand firm.

Go on over to Truth Social they have been talking about this CNN clip for a couple days now.

I haven't seen the clip; "Liberal World Order" is in contrast to what, exactly? What alternative world order is being proposed?

I couldn't find any way to view truthsocial.com on my Chromebook. If it's yet another social media I don't give a flip (I mean I don't give up my flip phone to participate).

I found this quote on MSN but it doesn't explain the comment;

GREG GUTFELD: What a scary fast trip from America first to America last. That "liberal world order" phrase used to be something you might hear somebody on infomercials say – I'm sorry InfoWars say. But it actually was said, it was actually said out loud. That one sound bite should be in every commercial for every Republican campaign. You should play that liberal world order blurb to truckers, to parents buying food, to delivery workers, because it's this kind of, it's one of the biggest, like, reveals in history, in political history.

They should put those stickers outside overcrowded jails, corrupt police departments, and inner city slums too.

I saw an interesting gun meme. There are self defense handguns named Judge and Defender. This one was a replica named Congressman with the caption WON'T WORK AND YOU CAN'T FIRE IT.

You wouldn't need any stickers since the jails are empty and I only read about corrupt police departments from the unverifiable liberal news sources. Some people should crawl back under the rocks they wiggled out from.

"Empty" is a surprising thing to hear. Last time I looked into it (several years ago), it was uncontroversial among people all across the political spectrum that prison populations exceeded capacity, and the disagreement was over whether to build more prisons or let people out of existing ones. Looking into it now it seems prison populations lowered dramatically during the pandemic but are starting to rebound. (I started my inquiry here: BOP: Population Statistics it says the Federal prison population is 150,033 as of when I wrote this.)

The corruption I link to Biden has to do with civil forfeiture in particular. There are many cases where assets are seized on very weak grounds just because the department wants the money and prestige and knows the person they seized it from probably can't afford to sue to get their property back. If corruption feels like the wrong term to you, then feel free to substitute "misaligned incentives".

If you know anything about me by now @havasu, it's that I don't read the news, liberal or otherwise. It is verifiable, that's part of why I don't read it: every time I go to verify it the truth turns out to be nothing even close to what they write. By now I've learned to skip the news part entirely and just go look up the information I want from upstream sources.

1. "EMPTY" because liberal prosecutors are letting criminals out without bail to murder people while awaiting trial on their earlier crime(s)... also, in many areas, such as here, thieves aren't prosecuted unless they steal over $1,000.00 in value...

2. Uh... no... build more prisons? ... Or... DO something about the ADDICTIONS that are creating the rapists/criminals/murderers in the first place! ... 75 DAILY MURDERS now!

3. Forfeiture from criminals... don't get into or create criminal situations! I've seen a lady junkie around here get several cars from windfall cash... they last her less than a week... she loans them out to drug pushers without wheels/license in exchange for illegal drugs... she gets them back totaled out... plus a lot of legal problems...

...(gun) replica named Congressman with the caption WON'T WORK AND YOU CAN'T FIRE IT.
Could name one Covid 'vaccine' Shots... deadly, nonworking, and you aren't allowed to avoid it...

State government quit asset forfeiture back in 1995. I was in charge of asset forfeiture back in those days, and it has gone by the wayside. I know the feds are collecting Russian Oligarchs yachts, but that is a different story.

DO something about the ADDICTIONS that are creating the rapists/criminals/murderers in the first place!
As far as I can tell, there is no political will to do anything about addictions. (There also isn't much good science tying addiction to rape/murder, though there's a lot of journalism doing it!) Addiction also isn't well understood, and is rather complex. I'd actually be pretty leery of government trying to get more involved in something like that, at least in any capacity beyond "fund more research".

It's not illegal to carry cash. There are actually lots of good reasons why some people do. Same goes for driving a nice car or buying a property, etc. Any of these things can and do also get looked at as potentially funded by criminal activity. All it takes is one traffic stop, or going through TSA at the airport, or any other routine interaction with law enforcement. Sometimes they come to you!

Not sure which state you're talking about.

No offense, but based on your writings, I'd probably have better luck communicating with a turnip. You obviously had a bad run in with law enforcement, or your folks instilled this hatred so much that it is ingrained in your soul. Keep posting 4 year old forfeiture laws, pertaining to the feds, but it doesn't happen unless you have $10k shoved up your keyster while going through a TSA line. Again, feds.

Yes, having and abusing illegal drugs isn't a crime to one party any more... neither is rape, robbery, thievery, or murder... 75 murders daily is normal to them... as is millions of other daily crimes... local police don't respond to burglaries if less than $3,000.00/value is missing... just file an insurance claim...
You must live a very sheltered life! I've been around lots of junkies that in the middle of the night they realize they don't have the money for more of the drugs they're on and the high has worn off and they GO INSANE and will do anything to get more!!! Had them beat on my door until the police arrive... If a girlfriend is with me, they're TERRIFIED! They'll say: "he seemed like the nicest person in the world in the daytime." They are SHOCKED at the Jeckyll/Hyde transformation! Prolly what inspired Poe to write the novel. Addictions are pretty simple. At least to someone like me who has studied psychology and psychiatry extensively.

Of course it's not illegal to carry cash... nobody said it was... I've carried enough to buy a house...
But if you're being watched because of past illegal activity... your phone is tapped with a judge's approval... you're acting stoned... have past felonies... illegally armed to the teeth... and they know you're in the middle of a massive illegal drug deal... don't be surprised if busted!

Some well known people who pay their Dad 10% and who forget/lose laptops and who sell out their country while stoned should forfeit their ill gotten gains!

No offense, but based on your writings, I'd probably have better luck communicating with a turnip.
That's a funny way of saying no offense. If you mean to say "let's agree to disagree" hey, that's fine. I'm happy to shake hands and we can go back to talking about home repair or whatever else. I respect your views on other matters and hold no ill will toward you.
You obviously had a bad run in with law enforcement, or your folks instilled this hatred so much that it is ingrained in your soul.
My personal experience with law enforcement has varied from neutral to excellent. I have had friends who are cops. I don't hate cops or policing as an institution. I do think we currently have some policies that create misaligned incentives between the police and the policed, in ways that have resulted in egregious behaviors and eroded trust between police and whole segments of the country. And I do think much of this is Joe Biden's fault.
Keep posting 4 year old forfeiture laws, pertaining to the feds,
You told me state forfeiture laws went by the wayside in 1995. I showed you a list of forfeiture laws, by state (so not federal but at the state level), that are at least as recent as 2018. If they have changed since then please feel free to show me the latest versions.
it doesn't happen unless you have $10k shoved up your keyster while going through a TSA line.
Just a quick DDG turned up a handful examples that prove this statement wrong. There are many, many other examples that are not hard to find. Below I am using examples from the Institute For Justice to avoid using examples from news sites.

You must live a very sheltered life!
Many people have it rougher than me and I am very fortunate. At the same time, most people I meet, when I tell them my life's story, tell me my life has been a wild ride compared to theirs. I have had close friends with addictions to drugs like meth, coke, and heroin. I know the kinds of stories you're talking about and I do not deny they exist; I've seen them first hand. But I can also tell you for certain that addiction is a topic that warrants further study.

if you're being watched because of past illegal activity... your phone is tapped with a judge's approval... you're acting stoned... have past felonies... illegally armed to the teeth... and they know you're in the middle of a massive illegal drug deal... don't be surprised if busted!
I agree, a person in that situation should not be surprised. But many civil forfeiture cases happen to people who are completely innocent. And even those who are not, are supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Civil forfeiture is often done without any charge at all, let alone a trial. I don't know about you but I think our Constitution is a good document and we should keep it. Biden tore a large chunk of it out in the 1970s, and a bit more in the 1990s, and I lay many of our country's current problems at his feet because of that.

But also, I remember now that I derailed this whole thread with my comment about the "I Did That" stickers, so I apologize. Y'all can go back to talking about the protocols of the elders of the DNC or whatever it was they got you with.

Yeah, I get a bit touchy when someone attacks my profession.

4th of July. No better time for this.

I AM AMERICA

I am America
Don't push too hard on me
For I know the price that has been paid
To have my liberty
If you come to me with malice and treachery in your heart
Then make no mistake
You will suffer the fury of my retaliation
For whatever you may start

But if you come to me with a longing for truth
Justice and happiness
With the will to do what's right
Then here's my hand, in friendship, thought and deed
Take it
Hold it tight

Bring me all your hopes and dreams
I will fulfill your every need
I will be your armor in times of strife
I will protect your rights to all these things
No matter where the road may lead

I am America
One man
One heart,
One true and loyal friend
To see you through and light your way
Your life I will defend
In all of this
I only ask one simple thing of you
That you keep the spark of freedoms light
In everything you do

Walk my streets, climb my mountains
Move freely
From my blue Pacific ocean
To my great Atlantic shore
Feel safe and secure in my strength and in my greatness
Only your God can give you more

I am America
I make no excuses for what will come or has passed
In politics, in boast or in the derision of others
The failings of the individual cannot set aside
That when you tread on me
All within my domain
Will stand and fight as brothers

I am America
I am the eagle on the fly
I am the shopkeeper and the school teacher
I am the innocent child lost in play
I am the farm and I am the factory
I am the family that bows its head to pray
I am the dissenter and the dreamer
The soldier, the sailor, the airman, the Marine
I am every creed and race
I am every person who stands and sweats
To make this world a better place

I am America
Here's my hand
In peace or pain
a better friend you will never know
But do not mess with me!
For my wrath, when stirred
Will crush any foe

I am America
I stand here unbowed and unwavering
for all the world to see
I am here
I am the beacon of freedom
If you are afraid?
Come stand here
Next to me
I am America

Yeah, I get a bit touchy when someone attacks my profession.
Those examples weren't about state vs. federal, they were showing that no, this doesn't only happen to people with rolls of money shoved up their butts. For state vs. federal I shared the list of forfeiture laws by state. If you need me to spend time finding examples of forfeiture abuse by state or local police I can do that, but at this point in the conversation do you really not think I'll find them?

And, I can't make this clear enough apparently, but I did not attack your profession, I attacked Joe Biden. It's hard for me to understand how you got any other impression from what I wrote. Believe me, if you said "Flyover, many people in your profession are abusing their position because of bad incentive structures around them" I wouldn't get my precious feelings hurt, I would agree with you! I understand that policing is more of a fraternal thing than what I do but that shouldn't cause your hippocampus to completely override your cerebral cortex. I hope we can talk like gentlemen about issues that are important even if they're close to home.
