Eddie, you're talking about making hummus with...great northern beans?? You can get away with favas, just add cayenne pepper and call it fuul. But great northerns? The hummus police are going to be knocking on your door.
There are white bean recipes out there. I don't have tahini but I have used garbanzos w/o tahini and it was pretty good. Some say PNB is a good substitute for tahini but I would be afraid PNB might overpower the beans and toasted sesame seed oil. What's the tahini for? The toasted sesame seed oil has a lot of flavor.

edit: I may try my stick blender on the beans. It didn't work well with canned garbanzos (and that's what I bought it for). It did find use for protein smoothies.

My daughter came over today and did some work for me.

I am going to go to look at some cabinets tomorrow I think. I've already look at the samples at Lowes, so I am going to look at home depot and menards tomorrow I think.

Anyone have a good resource for me to watch to frame out my existing screened in back porch for windows?

Flyover's mention of using bacon grease it made me think of a comment a young man made. We were sitting in the waiting room at the VA where his dad was having bypasses performed. She asked him was is favorite food was. His reply was "kilt lettuce and green onions". We knew what he was talking about. It was freshly picked leaf lettuce and green onions wilted with hot bacon grease. That may be why his dad needed bypasses.

No, I must caution you against this, it is illegal, every part of it. Don't let the sandals and deep-V t-shirts fool you, the hummus police don't mess around! They have Uzis and a lot of them are former Mossad.

Please: do not use white beans for hummus. Do not skip the tahini. Do not under any circumstances substitute PNB (the horror!). Why are you using sesame oil?!?! And a stick blender??

It makes my head hurt thinking about it. You won't be allowed anywhere they write from right to left if they find out you make this substance and call it hummus. Someone might put a fatwa against you over this.

Shan, the cabinets at Lowes and HD are garbage. Is there a Home Outlet anywhere near you? Unfinished Oak Cabinets | SKU: CL0006 | Home Outlet
The unifinished oak cabinets from there are much sturdier than stuff you can get at a big box store. They do need a little sanding, but they are better quality & will last longer. You can paint or stain them whatever color you want.

LOL. I don't think I've ever even tasted hummus. So, it has beans in it?

Costco used to have something called Cattle Drive chili. It was sold in TX (bc there was no Costco in Louisiana at the time) and it had beans in it. My late elderly friend liked it. He couldn't eat them too often because of the sugar content and he was diabetic.

I added more screws to my cement board to make sure it would be secured better, but my back is being very hateful today. I couldn't even stand up straight when I got up, so time for the heating massage pad and I'm waiting for naproxyn to kick in. I'm going to look for one of mom's hot glue guns (she said she's got some in plastic bins in her room) to see if I can use that to help square up the tub walls and shim them out enough that I can get boards on straight.

So, I have that Mustee box flattened out on top of stuff in my room. Itsy was sitting on it minding her own business. Snugglebum jumped up on it and made it tip and slip a little bit. He slid right off the edge and his weight made it bend enough that it made Itsy slide off right after him. She turkey tapped him on the way out the door.

Once my back settles down I'm going to have some salad for breakfast.

Kinda like trying to put beans in chili in Texas‽
More like trying to make chili without beans anywhere else. (Except Cincinnati I guess.) Why call it chili? Just call it meat sauce.

Here's what Texans have to say about it;
There's a saying in Texas: "If you know beans about chili, you know chili ain't got no beans." In Texas, "chili" is shorthand for chili con carne, which translates to "chili peppers with meat." No beans in sight.
Meanings change with time and location. I guess technically most chili would be chili con carne y frijoles. I think a friend of mine makes hot dog chili with no chili content (meat sauce?).

Son, DIL and her Mom all have Omicron variant. They had shots and boosters but I believe Omicron hit them harder than it did me with no shots or boosters.

My cornbread has been sticking so I am re-seasoning my cast iron skillet. Bake one hour upside down at 400°F with a thin coating of oil.

@zannej the closest one to me is about 3 hours away, and I don't own a truck. They only deliver about 30 mile radius unfortunately.

I went to look at the features of cabinets more than anything. I did use Menards tool and the cabinets I liked were like 5500 🫣

Shan, have you considered adding new doors and repainting the old the old cabinets?

The skillet has baked for an hour so I took it out and slid a frozen pizza in since the oven was hot. For a frozen pizza I use scissors to cut each pepperoni slice into quarters and redistribute. I also sprinkle with crushed red pepper and just a little sugar to tame the sauce.

edit: Pizza's done and tortilla chips placed on a cookie sheet to re-crisp as the oven cools.

The Distro app has all kinds of channels, but should automatically play Gusto TV when you select it.

It seems to be a Mom and Pop cooking channel because they said they were looking for cooks, didn't have to be a pro. Today I played it while I was cooking and it was (still is) a BBQ show.

The Cook was describing what I would like to write down, so I'm going to watch with a notepad next time.

@Eddie_T i did repaint them 2.5 years ago. They are just worn out, cheaply made from 1979. (The uppers) the lowers arent that old but probably have mold growing on the back of them.
alot of the cabinets of that praticular brand where sort of custom and most of the uppers are 40" cabinets.

still looking though, lol

We got our cabinets at Cabinets to go. They are real wood not particle board.

Are you going to leave the soffits up above the cabinets? Or take them out and install full Height cabinets? Make sure there isn’t anything in those soffits, like plumbing or vents, before you tear into them.

That’s because the jab doesn’t do anything good.

Last night I found out how good one of my air purifiers is. Normally it's on full blast in the bedroom, but I had shut it off.

I turned the heat on a half hour before bed so the house would stay reasonably warm until morning.

I was met with a nice dust smell that forced me to turn off the heat and try to figure out why, besides the obvious that the vents need cleaning and the filter needs vacuuming.

The bedroom has 2 vents and an intake, so it was pushing out the dust / heat and pulling it back into the system while skipping the purifier, distributing dust all over the house.

That doesn't happen at all with the purifier running. I normally wash the filter twice a year when it's warm enough outside to dry, and vacuum it when needed, but I had no idea it needed it...

So, I'm real happy with that purifier, but it did fail me once for many many hours when I gave the Dog sardines.

Post formed Formica counter tops fail because they don't seal the particleboard under the front edge. I think all Formica post formed counter tops use particle board. I sealed my original counter top front edge with wood glue so spills and drips couldn't wick into the particle board.

There was a popular family steakhouse in my general area that was known for its Chateaubriand for two and Greek salad. My buddy that has me over for supper every week or so was friends with the owner and got his salad recipe. My son brought in pizza and Greek salad from JET's Pizza a week ago and mentioned that steakhouse salad so I decided to get the recipe.

Surprise, surprise, the recipe for the dressing was just oil and vinegar (3 to 1) with a tbsp of dried oregano leaves spice, a tsp of salt and half of a medium onion (chopped) to make about 8 oz of dressing. The dressing is refrigerated overnight before use or will keep at least for a week or so. I have some in the fridge now but haven't tried it yet.
