    fence anchors

I want to install a 40' fence (6ft high dog eared) along my driveway and was curious as to how well those metal anchors are that you pound into the ground and attach the 4x4"s to. The wind is mainly along the length of the fence and will not be directly against it. Any thoughts would be...

    life expectancy for furnace??

Hi! I just bought a home and was curious about the gas furnace and wether or not I should have it replaced. The previous owners said they never had a problem with it, but I can't imagine that it is that efficient. The paperwork for the purchase of the furnace is dated from 1992. The brand name...

    Epoxy over Latex???

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the foundation walls were already painted a battleship gray and I was just looking to upgrade the appearance. The porch and steps are gray as well, but are in poor shape paint-wise. Would a latex paint be a better choice for the porch, after I stripped it...

    Epoxy over Latex???

Hello! I would like to re-paint my front porch (concrete) that was previously painted with several layers of what looks like latex paint. I bought the house a month ago and the paint on the porch is worn to the concrete in some areas, while it is peeling away in others, and in good shape in...

I know this is fairly common, but, what is the best paint to buy to seal the walls and floor to stop this problem? Once I paint, I plan...

Breaker not tripped, yet no power??

My house does not have any grounded outlets. I'm not sure, but you cannot install a GFIC outlet unless the wiring is grounded, correct?? Any thoughts, other than completely re-wiring the house??

Breaker not tripped, yet no power??

After further inspections, I still have found no GFIC outlets anywhere. My son's bedroom is on the same circuit as my bath and bedroom and he has power. I'm assuming then that there is an open circuit somewhere? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this problem. I just bought the house a month ago...

Breaker not tripped, yet no power??

Hello!! My first thread! First of all, circuit was fine yesterday. When I got home from work, the circuit for my bath and one bedroom wasn't working: the circuit breaker never tripped, just the line is dead. Any thoughts?? I'm very much a novice at this, so bear with me. There isn't a GFCI...
