I have a free standing brick wall (on the driveway, not part of the dwelling) that was recently plastered with concrete. In order to give it a smoother look, I used Drylok on the top and only one side of it so far and did a good job on filling and hiding some of the minor imperfections in the...
I am assuming this is to cover the top of the joists where insulation batts would normally miss it? (I see this as one advantage to spray cellulose).
The 90* vent is an old A/C vent that is no longer used (closed up with drywall from the inside) but it should be plugged at least.
I have a 1969 built home in Southern California that has existing blown in insulation (fiberglass?) from what seems like back when the home was built.
As you can see in the pictures, it's well below the joist levels and is dirty (will be vacuumed completely). I currently do not use it for...
problem is that I don't have a truck to return extra wood, so I have one shot to do this right ;)
I have seen some of the elastomeric treatements and the idea of thinning out wood glue on the end grains as well.
A quick question:
I have been reading a lot about letting the wood dry on saw horses, prime and paint it while there and then assemble the structure to prevent wood movement and splitting.
So I just got off the phone with a lumber yard advising me to do the exact opposite. Since the wood will...
Hi Folks,
I have an aging pergola patio cover that has a significant amount of rot and I am in the process of pricing out the lumber. I have been told that I currently have doug fir. Hopefully with the link to my pics below someone could help me confirm that!
Moving forward I am stuck...
I had sheet rock installed in my garage and now a few months later I decided to install the trim pieces for all the outlets and switches. To my disbelief this is what I found!
Is there a painless work around here? Spacers?
Thanks in advance!
I am going to store a car in there and use it as a general garage instead of a living space. Of course looking around the garage I do agree it seems to have a lot of air to be used for combustion. One item I haven't been able to scientifically nail down is given my use of the garage and the...
My furnace does indeed have the inducer motor for the exhaust but nothing for the water heater. Wouldn't the filter cut down on the existing air flow coming in from those foundation vents?
Thanks for the info. Ok, I guess all the existing vents stay! Though, how can I prevent dust and crap from blowing inside the garage?
Would this work?
