Well, just an update, I gave up on that idea :). I figured if I had that much stuff I needed to just quit life. SO I just put up pulley systems for ladder and 3 kayaks. What's sad is the ladder pulley system is 2x as good as the kayaks and cost less.
Joe,
That makes sense (I know we didn't do when removing carpet). Only problem is I've only ever used one stain and one finish (poly for high gloss doors/baseboards) in my old house knowing the wood wouldn't match the upstairs wood... how can I figure out how to match the baseboards to...
Hey Guys,
My new house has very fancy but soft wood. Our floors, doors, baseboards and railings all ding and get damaged at the drop of a hat and the longer I live here the more defects I find. SO I redid the flooring in my wife's craft room (Pic attached) and when I took off the...
Hey Guys,
I'm moving into a new (10 yr old) house with a 30' wide garage where the truss system spans the 30'. The bottom chords are 2x4 and is R30-38 insulated with drywall already on them. I've read and figure I have about 2-3lb/sqft of storage capacity left in the bottom chord but...
Hey all,
I've had our kitchen table for about a decade. It's really nice but it has some quirks. If you place hot plates or anything warm on it, it would discolor. Also using clorox wipes caused the finish to become just a touch gooey.
Yesterday my daughter poured nail polish remover on...
Hey Guys,
SO this has been a crazy winter for the last month and a half here in ND and for the first time my sump pump line froze outside. I got lucky as I just happened to notice the new (this year) quiet pump was running because my inside pipes were leaking a little bit. The inside pipes...
SO an update: the pit steel plate lid is great and works perfectly but before I put the carpet back I had a hunch so I opened it up and sure enough the whole hole stunk... and it stunk like sewer as always. SO I got in the hole and looked at the backwater valve lid and there were cracks masked...
I know a guy with a plasma cutter so he's just going to make me an A36 carbon steel plate for $40. Found a load chart that looks like I'll be able to have 2, 300 pound men jump in the center and won't deflect enough to come off the inner lip. I don't have any 300Lb friends but maybe I'll show my...
You really think 1/4" lexan would be sufficient so that it feels solid if I were to walk on it? What if a 400Lb person jumped on it? I wouldn't trust the current lid with a 400Lb man even for standing, but I like to make my work "real good".
Hello Everyone,
Today I unearthed the source of our great basement smell. When we purchased our house the basement had nasty carpet from 1989 (Year house was built) that looked like it was from the early 70s. Upon removal we found a 2nd hole in our basement. When we replaced the carpet...
