    Just Starting

I think your best bet is to get an accurate assessment of everything that will absolutely need to be done and prioritize from there. Don't worry about any of the cosmetic stuff until you're sure that all of the "structural" work is completed. If your roof leaks, your foundation weeps, your walls...

I use baking soda to clean just about everything.

I've had amazing success with a paste that I make using baking soda and dishsoap. For the dishsoap I use Dawn plus PowerScrubbers, because it's incredibly effective at cutting grease. I do use other cleaning products, but this homemade paste is definitely one of my favorites.

    Bed Bugs

I am curious about this being a rental condo. First question: Is your condo attached to anyone else's property? A friend of mine years ago ended up with bed bugs because she was renting an apartment and the man down the hall had a SEVERE infestation. For reasons that I don't know or understand...

    Help me choose a color.

I would try to match the green that you feature in your (what looks like) dining room, or choose a rich emerald green. First of all because I love the color green, but secondly because the game room when viewed from the angle of the second picture will look like a continuation of the dining...

    Living room/kitchen opening

Are you set on the idea of a door in particular? Why not find a nice set of blinds or curtains?. That would be a quick install and removal and wouldn't be permanent at all. It wouldn't be difficult to update the style if you chose to redecorate your living room or kitchen. As well, you could...

    Baby Bedroom

Babies are particularly responsive to black and white, because the contrast is easy to see. Also, when researching psychological responses to colours and shapes, children responded more positively to primary colours and circles. Alternatively, with small children that can get up and walk...

Anybody else live in the desert?

Try growing plants that are suitable to be planted in rocky soil. As far as I know, these plants are junipers, pines, aloe plants, and acacia tree. They tend to thrive in rocky or sandy soil because their roots are able to go past the rocks to find the soil. Just try these out.

    Where To Relocate Downspout

I'm not sure if I'm explaining this properly, but I'll give it a shot. In the pictures you have up there it appears that the original downspout ran directly into a pipe in the ground. There is roughly one foot of pipe remaining above ground level and the down spout has been rerouted roughly...

    Kitchen Cabinets in Northern VA

You know, I didn't think of this yesterday, but does there happen to be a Habitat for Humanity ReStore in your area? Usually they have cupboards and cabinets of all different shapes, sizes, and styles depending on the location. The one near me constantly has them, as well as lots of laminate...

    Kitchen Cabinets in Northern VA

Have you tried local classifieds to see if there are any used kitchen cabinets. It's not the ideal, because of course you would want something that fits your style and is designed with the space you have, but sometimes people luck out. I recommend checking your local paper or, if you have any...

I want to be a House Flipper.

The main problem with a credit card is that no matter what you put on it, how long you hold it open, or what you use it for, it is only one item on your credit file. You could put $1000s on it every month and pay it off every month and it will still only show one item as being handled correctly...

Master bedroom placement near dining/living room

There's a possibility that you don't like the idea of this type of layout, because it's very common for apartments and large hotel rooms. It would make the place feel less like a home and more like somewhere you're staying. I'm not sure I understand what the current idea layout of the house...

Best Mulch for a Play Area

I have to admit that I have a special place in my heart for the small stone gravel that you find in school yards. Reminds me of my childhood. Can be very dusty though. The problem with sand, depending on where you live, is that cats will use it as a litterbox. If there are no stray cats in...

    Slugs

There are pellets available called "Escar-Go" which are basically iron pellets wrapped in slug bait. A high concentration of iron is fatal to slugs, but doesn't harm the soil or most other animals. Also, slugs seem to be repelled by caffinated products. Adding coffee grounds to the soil in...

Anchoring a prebuilt wood shed to concrete slab?

Yes, usually pre-fabricated wooden storage sheds are not anchored on a residential application such as a parking space. But if it's the requirement from the fire marshal then you should follow. I think what kok328 said is more feasible in anchoring the wood shed to the concrete slab.
