Besides tile what are my other DIY countertop materials. Don't think it's fesable to install granite but what about Corina (sp?). Is it easy to install material like that yourself or does it require extra tools. Do they just glue it to the top of whatever it sits on?
 
You can certainly do tiles yourself - you can borrow/rent tools from a store that sells ceramic tiles - ask their advice on what kind of substrate (plywood, concrete board) you need.

The other DIY option is laminate. There are lots of "post formed" countertops available. Take your accurate measurements to a dealer and they will cut all the sections for you. Be sure to caulk or glue all seams to waterproof them.

Corian or other solid surfaces are NOT a job to try on your own. These materials require fabrication. Leave that to a pro!
 
Corian is installed by companies certified by the manufacturer----that way the job is done to specs.

Tile, laminate, stone, manmade, and wood are options.

There is one more---and can be DIY---concrete. Dyes can be added to the mix and there are available guides for doing concrete countertops.
 
Quartz which is an engineered stone. Brands are Zodiac, Silestone, Hanstone
You never have to seal it like you do granite. Darker colors look more like granite.
