My Bidet Is Running !

This old American Standard Heritage Wall-Mount Bidet 3324 series has two problems.

First, it won't fully shut off, there is always a 1/4 inch stream of water flowing through it.

Also, just a few seconds after it is turned on, the check valve starts leaking.

I cut out the drywall around the faucets and the check valve, and there is no leakage behind the wall.

I've spoken with three different plumbers, and they were reluctant to come out and work on such an old bidet.

Regarding the constant stream of water in the bowl, you can see a silver colored lever on the bidet in the first picture above. When the lever is turned to the right, as it is in the picture, the stream of water comes out of the copper spout. If the lever is turned to the left, the water leaks out from under the edge of the bidet.

I purchased a fix-it kit a few months back.



I did not re-install everything in the kit, but I did put in the new seats, diaphragms, and faucet cores. I also replaced the inside of the vacuum breaker assembly, but I did not switch out the silver metal outside part of the vacuum breaker.

With the "cap" of the check valve removed, I put my palm firmly down on top of the check valve. I was curious to see if the stream in the bowl would stop. It didn't.



Also, when the cap of the check valve was off, I could see that the water in the check valve was constantly rising and lowering a little.

This is what goes into the check valve. The actual pieces I received in the repair kit look a little different than the drawing of the kit parts I posted above.

I think I need to be specific about what I replaced. The pieces with the green arrows, I replaced.

The piece which is colored orange, the outside of the check valve, I did not replace.

I considered replacing it, but when I looked at how it attached to the other pipes, it looked confusing. I have to turn off the water to the house whenever I work on the bidet, and I do not want to take this project a bridge too far.
