I have a new 3/4hp Schaefer submersible pump down my well. The electrician recommended a Pump Saver Plus 111-INSIDER-P. The pump saver is manufactured by SymCom.

Is there a true cost benefit to installing a Pump Saver? Doesn't the pump already have some safety features already built in?

The biggest reason for any safety device for a submersible pump is to keep the pump from overpumping the well and doing damage to itself. So if you have a low yield well, the Pumpsaver would be a good idea.

The other reason would be to prevent rapid cycling. Cycling a motor on/off too much can destroy it. A good bladder tank, a constant pressure valve or a galvanized tank with an air making system would be good ways to prevent rapid cycling.

There are other devices out there that are more suited to submersible pumps than the Symcom.
