So I'm moving into a new house very soon, but when I first move in I have a couple things to take care of. First is paint, and second is flooring. Right now as it stands, I have new tile in the entryway and first bathroom.

I have older carpet through out and I don't really want much carpet afterwards.
Is there any reason why carpet or laminant floors would be too much to have throughout?

The master bath even has carpet so that is going to go. My fiance does not want tile in the room because she says it's too cold. So how would I go about transitions and where would I put what type of flooring.

Thanks for ideas in advance... :D

Look into cork flooring. It doesnt get cold :) I dunno if it should be used in a bathroom or not but its a nice looking product and it always stays room temp!

Welcome OldSchoolVDub:
I agree with getting rid of the carpet, it harbors too much pet hair and germs. When you are ready to tile the master bath floor you might consider using an electric heat mat under it to keep the floor warm.
My baths have tile, my kitchen has vinyl, and the rest of the house is oak hardwood. In the living room we use a 6' X 8' area rug to keep the floor more comfortable for our feet.

So if I went with no carpet in the whole house, would it make the house alot louder and more um.... echoish?

Selling carpet for years, I would say take it off, make sure to use mask when taking it off :)

Anything is better then carpet, area rug could be nice add on in winter time. Abut the loud, after you move in and furniture it shouldn’t acoustic

ok. Well now that I have that settled, it's time to figure out what flooring I want where. If I went with wood in the rooms and tile in the hallway and kitchen. Would that look good? What about the same tile int he hallway as the kitchen and first bathroom, but switching it up and using a different tile on the master bath?

Sound like good idea hardwood in bedroom and the rest tile

As a start look at some catalog, you can find many catalog online Google it.

A general rule of thumb is that you don't want to be able to see more than 3 different floorings from any point in the house. Usually, you can't see into a master bath from anywhere except the master bedroom, so feel free to use something different!

sweet... I"m going to start looking this weekend... thanks all for your help... I'm sure I'll be asking more question shortly..
