So, I was mowing a few weeks ago under a Bush. The lawnmower died so I started checking it out and saw a spring had come loose, so I untangled the spring and the mower works now but it doesnt have much power to it. I cant find my parts manual and I havent been able to find it online either. So I'm hoping with the pic I have you can tell me what the darn thing is called. I thought I knew but the springs that come up dont look like what I have.

It the governor spring and it got stretched out and it has lowered your RPM. You could try snipping it off and making a new end out of the last turn. What it needs is a little more tension.

Is that a Briggs and Stratton engine? If so, parts are readily available at most home centers. They're pretty available for Honda engines too. If you move the silver lever can you rev up the engine?

It is the Briggs and Stratton, I hadn't tried that because I wasnt 100% sure that that was where the problem was. It's raining right now, I'll give it a try in the am. Thanks for direction

So.... I went to 3 different places today, none of which were helpful (which is why I do things that I am nowhere near qualified to do) what is this spring called and I'll try to find it online. I messed with it some today and made it a little tighter and put it back on and it does seem to have more power. Nonetheless, I want to purchase one so that I gave it. Pic is attached it's a total of about 1.5 inches maybe 1.75 inches long from end to end. I tried to find the manual for the lawnmower on snapper and it doesnt bring up anything when I insert the model number. I'll attatch that also. Meanwhile... my grass hasnt been cut in a week, not because of this but because of rain and I work 40 hours over the next 3 days, so itll be a jungle out there when I get the chance.
I should add that it is located under the airfilter to the right of the engine when looking at the front of the mower

Steps in acquiring proper part number.

1. Download Parts manual for your lawn mower:
https://www.snapper.com/na/en_us/su...downloadmanual.12BVC3BD707_IPLURL_LO.pdf.html
2. See Number 8 gives us the engine group which further reveals:
ENGINE, Briggs & Stratton, Mod. 111P02-0007-F1

So then:
3. https://www.google.com/search?q=111P02-0007-F1
Which leads us to:
https://www.partstree.com/parts/bri...l-engine/controls-governor-spring-thermostat/

And looking at that there diagram it would appear as if number 209 is your part, which resolves to a:

Briggs and Stratton 796484
Spring-Governor

Which you can order here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Briggs-Stratton-796484-Governor-Spring/230973287622

Amazon has it as well, I would personally order it from one or the other, take a few days to get it to you and you should be all set.

Thank you so much. I swear I put the model number in snapper.com and it kept telling me nothing existed. I really appreciate it alot! I went to 2 other places and they didnt have it either so I will be ordering it today. You're wonderful!
