For years we used the Kenmore/Whirlpool washing machines. Our way of washing whites was to start with washcloths and towels with detergent and a low level of hot water go to wash cycle for a few minutes then let soak. After a good soak and maybe another short agitation or two if we thought to we would add T shirts and other whites select a cooler water for fill and back up to a full cycle setting. Our replacement washer is a GE and it has a mind of its own if you try to back up, reset or otherwise try to control the beast it dumps the water and starts over. My question is whether or not a more controllable washer exists? My guess is it would have to have an analog dial rather than computer control.

The new detergents do not even need hot water.
I have not used hot water in a washing machine for at least 20 years and they come out fine.

Sounds like you need a washing machine controlled by a cell phone :eyeballs:. Do you do this out of habit or have you proven that you need such a meticulous wash cycle?

We want the whites to be white rather than dingy. Even using Shout for stains the remain. My wife swore by Tide but after they quit putting phosphorus in it it quit working. Maybe that's why most people use colored washcloths.

I really fail to understand why people post if they have no answer to a question, so I'm out of here!

I got a LG top load washer with wifi and let me tell you i will never do without. So many times my washer would restart due to uneven load. Now if it happens i get notified about anything. No more checking to see if the wash is done i know exactly how long it has left!

I'll repeat the original post,

A more controllable washer exists in my house but I doubt you'll be able to find one to purchase. Mine is a 30+ year old Maytag.

It's too bad but that's the way everything is headed. Sophisticated electronics and computer controlled crap. Trying to make things easier with gadgets you can't control or fix easily.

I'm going to watch craigslist for an old Kenmore, Whirlpool or Maytag.

So far I have been able to keep my old Whirlpool double oven going. I don't want an oven that has to be programmed, or uses wifi, I use a flip phone that fits in my pocket.

Eddie, you have a very unique way of doing laundry. I doubt that any manufacturer will want to build a machine that suits your particular needs. But you may find that all of these new cycles that they add to new machines may coincidentally work for you. So shop carefully.

If I would just go with the flow and used colored towels and wash cloths I wouldn't need a washer that gets clothes clean, or as I suspect most people do just toss them if they get dingy.
