Yep... I screwed up. At the very least, I've created a lot of extra work to correct this, but I still don't have a solution. I have a flat-stone pathway that is somewhat pitched away from the house. It's been there for the past 15+ years and soil and small stones we've packed between the larger stones have eroded leaving some rather deep gaps. Other areas have sprouted weeds. Admittedly, there is not a good foundation base, although I did attempt packing in some stone dust and crush at one time. I've also tried Gator Dust polymeric sand. This last attempt was to use concrete. Unfortunately, the dark gray concrete dried to a much much lighter gray. It looks horrible and I'm about to chip it all out. I've even considered staining it, but that could potentially make it look worse. Does anyone have any ideas? (We are about to put our house on the market, and I gotta fix this.)

Dig out the dirt and other crap you put between the rocks, down to a depth of about 1 1/2 inches. Get a bag of ready mix mortar mix, place a few cups of wet mix into a piping bag, and squeeze between the joints. Let it set up for a half hour, then brush the excess out until level. 20160128_154342.jpg 20160204_102338.jpeg

Ready-mix motar mix also appears to lighten up considerably. Is there a way to make it darker? I've used this to do some tuck-pointing in the past and have had the same issue. By the way, your walkway looks great.

You can always add a bit of dye, but unless you are deadly accurate, you will get a varied color, which looks worse than natural. Another trick, if you are just trying to improve the appearance, is to coat the surface with a wet look concrete sealer. Since once you do it, you need to continue to re-coat every 6 months, but it does look real neat and darkens the stone AND concrete.
