Hello,

I want to replace my door glass insert with a new one. I wonder:

(1) can one man do the job?
(2) do I have to put caulking on the glass insert's frame (inside) before put it on to the door?

Hope some experts can help me on these. Thank you.

Welcome.

You'll want a bead of caulk on the outside, IE weather side of the product. I use POLYSEAMSEAL.

You should be able to purchase the entire assembly instead of just parts.

And yes, it's a one man project.

Typically, there are screws going through the casing around the perimeter of the glass. Typically on the inside of the door. Remove those screws, and the plastic perimeter casing will come off and the the glass panel can be removed from the other side.

Yes, sounds not that difficult. Will follow. Thank you.

Meanwhile, do all houses main entrance door's glass inserts are bearing the same thickness of 1" ?

I have an exterior door that leads to my garage, which looks very similar to your picture. The glass panel on my door is 1/2" thick. Not sure about other doors.

I had to replace mine several years ago when a rock kicked up by my weedwacker hit the window and broke it. It is definitely a one-man job, and you can order a replacement unit at Lowe's or Home Depot. It took a week or two to get into the store. Measure the width of the grids inside the glass.
