I live in Florida and need to extend my exterior above ground natural gas line. The existing pipe is 3/4 inch galvanized with a Tee in the line with a plug in one end. I want to attach a 4 foot 3/4 inch pipe to the Tee so I can install a on off valve with fitting for a BBQ grill hookup.
I need to know the approved way to attach the new pipe to the exterior wall.

Thank you in advance for your help.

The original line already has a drip leg.

All I need to know is what type of bracket is approved to put at the end of the pipe to attach it to the wall?

Also, I have found a dark brown spot about 3/4 the size of a dime where the pipe enters the garage on the inside. It looks very similar to a raised scab on skin. I was able to take a wire brush attachment on a drill that removed the scab. After removal that was difficult the pipe was pitted on the outside. Any idea what this could be?

Thank you again for your help.

No one here knows what it is your trying to attach it to, brick, block, Hardee, vinyl, ECT.
Was the line ran through brick, block, concrete, pressure treated wood without being sleaved?
That's why it would be nice to have that picture, so there's less questions, and better replies.

The ‘scab’ could have been rust? Is it black pipe or galvanized? Galvanized should be used for outside applications. Coat it with some rustoleum paint if it’s black pipe.

Slight imperfection anywhere in galvanized steel pipe can start rusting.

I hope those line you show in your pictures were replaced.:eek:

is that a gas pipe??? if so it looks very dangerous , call someone, plumber, gas company .

Around our area , galvanized metal pipe is never used for gas . Very seldom used for water .

If metal pipe is used , black iron / steel pipe is used . Buried gas pipe is sometimes black iron / steel , or sometimes a plastic pipe approved ( along with associated fittings ) for direct burial .

I am not a plumber , but I have installed or replaced gas lines , before .

Best of luck to you , :)

Wyr
God bless
