Oh Hah
We set up a small 8' circular pool, the inflatable kind with the filter and pump that's maybe 2 or 3 feet deep. This is my first time doing pool maintenance so I'm pretty clueless, learning as I go.

We're going out of town for a week -- what do I need to do? Should I keep the pump & filter going? The water is fine right now (everything at proper levels), but should I add anything extra to it for the week I'll be gone?

Pools can use trichlor that comes in tablets and breaks down slowly in cooler water. Hot tubs use dichlor that is a granular product and needs to be added daily. Trichlor will break down too fast in hot water, 100f or above.

If your pool is covered I would make sure your pool has a couple trichlor tabs in it and run the pump a few hours the day before you leave and then not worry about it.

It will be fine for a week. When you get home run the pumps for a couple hours and check the levels.

You can shock your tub with regular household bleach.

How much bleach? It's a 650 gallon pool.

A daily dose when being used of third to half a cup should do it. If you are going away for a week add a cup I would think would work. More than a week I would get some pool tabs at WalMart and toss one or two in. I’m assuming it is covered.

Yeah, I stake a tarp over it every night. Actually I haven't uncovered it since I got back 2 days ago.
