After my new roof was installed, I can see into the rafters through a gap between the drip edge and the gutter. This is true all around the roof. I assume that the fascia boards were too short, but was hidden by the old drip edge which was longer than the new drip edge. Please see the picture ! (What you see from top moving down: edge vent, drip edge, gap with rafter exposed, gutter.)

I am wondering if the roofer should have noticed this, told me, used a longer drip edge, .... I am afraid the wind will blow rain into the rafters/attic, bugs getting in, etc. What should I do to fix this?

Call your roofer back out and explain the situation to him. Explain how having an open air space can lead to insects, squirrels, wind driven rain to enter the attic area. Allowing for air intake is a good thing in providing for air exchange in the attic, an open slot you could stick your hand in could lead to issues down the road. Stopping a job and getting a proper drip edge during installation would have been a whole lot easier than trying to retrofit the drip edge now.

It's possible that an the previous shingles overhung the roof decking to an extent that this issue was not visible previously.
