Hi all. So I've been noticing ever since we lived here (January of this year) our solid oak hardwood floors are extremely loud and creaky. I know about monitoring humidity levels and all that and where they should be, but this is weird. My hydrometer that's on the fridge reads different than my LG dehumidifier in the basement. I got curious and wanted to see if it was reading accurately and compared it to the 300 dollar LG dehumidifier. Upstairs the small Acurite hydrometer reads 38-40%. When I took it downstairs in different areas it drops to about 33%. The LG dehumidifier reads my basement at 45%. I left the hydrometer down there for about 10 minutes and it stayed at 33%. Which would you trust? The LG dehumidifier's reading or the hydrometer? I am leaning toward the hydrometer because I know for a fact that the temperature reading is always spot on! Thoughts??

Its a hygrometer.
Go to Youtube and search "Hygrometer Salt Method". It will explain how to calibrate your hygrometer.
