Hello, I’m having issue with my kitchen floor next to the back door. When it rains or snows, sometimes water gets tracked in. The floor is starting to get soft. I’m replacing my floor this weekend and William Ben fixing the subfloor where it’s soft. My question is, is there anything I can do, short of applying some sort of silicone across the door edge that will help keep the water from seeping between the door and the floor? The floor I’m Putting in a vinyl plank so it’s waterproof.

pictures will help us see the problem. But I doubt that just tracking in wet shoes will cause enough water damage to soften the subfloor. I suspect there's more there than meets the eye.

Here is the water damage I’m fixing. I just finished removing the old floor and starting to cut out the damaged part. I will be replacing the door as well. So I also realized that I was getting water from the bottom of the door when it rains really bad because I don’t have any overhead on the roof.
