IMG_9713.JPG 9949ahi all. As u can see in the pic I have these magnetic gold strips on my fireplace. I hate the gold and Home Depot doesn't carry these pieces in another finish. I'd like for them to be dark bronze or rustic copper look. How can I refinish these things? Do I need some kind of high-temp spray paint or something? I wish I could just swap them but not sure if anyone carries some random fireplace pieces like these. Thanks for your time!

Regular Spray paint works fine. I painted mine about 5 years ago and it still looks good.
 
I'd scuff the surface, prep it with a high temp bonding primer if you can find one, then paint with a high temp paint of your color choice.
 
do they get hot enough that you can't comfortable touch them when it's in operation? If no then regular paint is fine... if yes you can't even stand to brush by them they are so hot, then yes use high temp paint. The price difference isn't monumental, but I'm cheap enough where I would care.
 
I painted the outside of my claw foot tub with a bronze metallic spray paint and it looks like it was cast from bronze. I liked it so well I painted all the upstairs doorknobs and plates with it. I think it will take the heat. Are those gas logs?
