Hello,

I just replaced the framing around an exterior door, and need to patch some of the exterior sheathing (ideally a small area 2"x3") which is something called "Energy Brace Structural Sheathing" from a company that doesn't seem to exist anymore. It is is very thin (about 1/8 inch) fiber-board material and is fastened directly to the studs. No other material between the studs and vinyl siding...

Putting aside for a moment my concern about the structural integrity of all of this, I can't find a similar material to patch this area. I don't want to use a thicker material (OSB etc) since this this will probably be noticeable under the siding.

Thanks for your help.

Add 2x3s to the side of the exposed studs back a little so the OSB or plywood will be flush with the rest of the wall.

Thanks! That will work for most the area. Where there is no longer sheathing cover part of the replaced header (about 6 inches at one end) would it be enough to cover this area with flashing tape?
