Hi Everyone,

I have a wire of multiple strands.

14 strands of 0.004 inch. I want to use it for 12 v 0.5 Amp circuit

the length is 13 meters. Will it be safe or can cause fire?

Please advice.

thanks

That sounds like 22 or 24 gauge wire. It should be fine for .5 amps. It should be properly fused.

38 gauge is one strand of .004. You have multiple strands.

I think you will have excessive voltage drop. I came up with losing a little more than two of the 12 volts (about 20 percent) for drawing 1/2 amp at that distance (a little over 80' round trip).

You will need 20 gauge or fatter wire.
