I am building a new home through Ryan Homes. We are do to close on Friday and it is Monday now. They have yet to pour the concrete for the driveway and we are suppose to have freezing temp all week at night. Is there any circumstance they would be able to pour it without it being weak later? I am afraid they will try to pour it to meet the close date.
 
Usually, they advise to wait until it is above 30 degrees to do it, best of luck!
 
Sometimes they cover with foam insulation and plastic sheeting.

I think concrete makes some heat as it sets.
 
They for sure will put calcium chloride in the mix, which speeds curing, because at temperatures approaching freezing, the curing process otherwise grinds to a halt. However, there is risk of discoloration when high proportions of calcium chloride is added (dark blotches). This will not be the first time they have encountered freezing temps, - a reputable concrete company won't pour if conditions are not right. If they have to wait to pour the driveway, so be it.
