I was using my chainsaw today. I was using it for most of the day, going after trees under 4 inches. The chain would keep coming off. After using it for about a half hour, the chain would come off. I would put it back on, and within a half hour, off it came again.

Anyone know why it would come off that often?
I did adjust it right, and it is not all the way to the end of the adjustment.

Is there a way to test it to see if it has stretched too much?

Not unless you have a bent bar, or it is too loose. Your instructions should tell you how much slack is required on the blade.

It was as tight as it should be each time I put it back on.
Sounds like my bar is the issue.

Pull the chain off and soak it in oil overnight. Then try some more adjustment tomorrow.
Also, remove the bar and lay it on a flat surface and look for pinch points.

I have an Oregon self sharpening chain saw that is hard to keep the chain on. Seems like if it gets into the slightest bind it will throw the chain. It has a weird looking drive sprocket.

You are positive it's the right chain... I've used and owned many many chainsaws... and have never experienced that problem... Ever...

It has been on it for over a year, and I am now having issues.

Did you recheck it occasionally to make sure it was staying tight?

Within a half hour of running, it comes off. Generally I would check it every time I use it, every time I fuel it up, or every time it is sharpened.

Could check the chain tension each 15 minutes to see if the adjustors are slipping...
