Installed a new fan motor. Old one works but was told by technician it is on its last legs.

New one is 4 wire system liked the old one. The old one all 4 wires were connected but the new one has two speed and you only use one so the other is capped.

However I've tried to wire it the new fan won't shut off when the AC is off. I've attached photos of the diagram from the compressor and from the new fan. Thanks for any help!

I also read in the review for the motor that somebody added a 24v relay. Not sure if it was addressing the problem I have but it could be? Or maybe I just need to return it and order OEM?

The schematic and wiring diagram for the unit show a 24v circuit going to the fan motor. Your fan motor wiring diagram shows only 230v connections (with no contactor switching)so the 24v circuit must be for a relay in/on the fan motor. Did your original fan motor have an external relay can?

Thanks for your help!

I've attached two more photos from the original motor wiring. You can see the brown and black wires going into the bottom of the contactor. Blue coming out the side. The other photo shows yellow on the other side. It's actually the bottom yellow wire with the orange connector.

It looks like the yellow and the blue somehow controlled the fan on/off. I suppose that the fan could be reconnected to be switched along with the compressor but I am sure there are reasons to keep the fan on a bit longer after the compressor shuts down so it might do damage over the long haul. I have never worked on one so I don't know how the control circuits work.

Have you tried youtube to see if there are any instructions for your unit?

The fan doesn't appear to stay on but for a moment after the compressor shuts off. Tried to youtube my unit but haven't found anything yet. So I'm wondering if the unit I purchased isn't compatible.

I think it's not compatible. There is also a low ambient thermal switch in the 24v control circuit. The purpose of the 24v control circuitry is a mystery to me.

I give up, I don't have a clue as to the function of the yellow and blue wires from the fan motor to the contactor. You had better ignore any comment I have made.
