    COVID-19 Vaccines NOVAVAX and COVAXIN

Although I do think it a bit strange to have a Covid-related discussion in this forum, I agree that it's generally OK if it can be contained to a limited number of threads. I wouldn't think of going to the FDA or CDC or NIH for information on how to frame a door, so whatever is posted here...

Sleeves in concrete floor for water, electrical, and aerator lines?

Ok Troops... I can use some guidance from you guys before I miss an opportunity... Maybe a bit to unpack... I recently purchased a property with a three-stall barn. Unfortunately, there is an erosion issue around the barn and the flooring of the barn consisted of a bunch of 2x10 planks...

the price of lumber has gone crazy in Canada

I occasionally get the newsletter from the trade-rag Builder, which provides some insight into what's fueling all this craziness. I didn't realize the changing business models and the impact private equity is having...

You'll have to make a suggestion re: the IRL, but investigating the breweries seems like an excellent idea.

the price of lumber has gone crazy in Canada

I did. Good memory. There was actually another 49 acre lot we had considered about 5 miles from th at same chemical plant on the Cape Fear River that had high levels of contaminants. Glad we got outbid on that one. Mitigating the water with GAC (granulated activated carbon) filtration for...

the price of lumber has gone crazy in Canada

Sparky617 -- Funny you should mention this. My wife and I are downsizing and sold our house in Fayetteville (NC) and bought a 10 acre lot in Lillington, in the country about 50 min away. Like you said, there were multiple offers on the house/lot we wanted and we had to swallow hard on some of...

How to refill water filter automatically?

Wow, I stand corrected. Should have looked more closely. As I drilled a little closer, it wouldn't have worked anyway. However, my extortion idea works.

How to refill water filter automatically?

My understanding is that RO systems remove minerals where a Berkey system does not. (Best to confirm that.)

How to refill water filter automatically?

I enjoyed this thread as I also have a Berkey and my wife and I used to have the problem with running out of filtered water. First, I'll submit that you should consider what Berkey has to offer: Auto-Fill I haven't yet gone this route. In our case, extortion worked for me. If my wife didn't...

    Leveling subfloor for hardwood

Curtis73. this thread reminds me of the Einstein quote: "If I had one hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem & 5 minutes thinking of the solutions”. I think I learned more from the way you anayzed and framed the problem as anything else. Thank you for helping...

    Well pump discharge faucet...

This issue regarding check valves opens up another world about which I know nothing. Apparently there have been long discussions about the use of check valves upstream of the pressure tanks. I don't want to create a tangent to my original post, but rather, will offer the following to those who...

    Well pump discharge faucet...

Agreed. Good point, but no anti-siphon installed. Most likely there is a check-valve in the line upstream of the tank to keep the line pressure to the well high enough to avoid the siphon. Thanks.

    Well pump discharge faucet...

I'm in the process of doing my due-diligence on a property that has a well pump. The current owner tied into the discharge line of the pump with a tee and a standard gate-valve hose-bib-type faucet to attach a garden hose which leads to a watering trough for his horses. I don't recall seeing...

    Home-purchase detective work...

A technique I like to use is to plug the address into Google Earth and cruise through the area adjacent to the still aerial photos captured by the realtor drones. Tapping into Google's Streetview is also revealing at times. This property is not as remote from the main road as one might first...

    Home-purchase detective work...

I didn't intend a mystery. Here is the property. 6825 Council Rd, Fayetteville, NC, 28306 | realtor.com® I assume that the entire surface gets saturated from time to time, but gravity acting on the surface causes the bottom of the exterior panels to stay saturated longer. Perhaps this...

    Home-purchase detective work...

Flyover... You've provided a reasonable explanation. The house was built in 2010, and I am assuming the wood exterior is original. If they didn't treat it in some way, one might expect to see some degredation. In general, the property interior is ok; we are expecting to do some remodeling...
