    New Coleman/York furnace blower erratic

Supplier thinks its the motor. Sending me a replacement. Hopefully I can get it shoehorned in!

    New Coleman/York furnace blower erratic

Here are some photos! Could the thermostat have anything to do with this? The old furnace would do something similar, but not nearly as often.

How do you test across the contacts while the relay is socketed on the board? How likely is it that a brand new furnace needs a new relay? Edit: I don't see any relays on the board. At least not "conventional" relays... I'll upload pics in the morning.

    New Coleman/York furnace blower erratic

Thanks for the tip! However, I'm not sure I know where that relay is, or which contacts to measure. I do know how to use my DMM, though!

    New Coleman/York furnace blower erratic

Hey all, it's been a while, but I'm back with a new question. Thanksgiving morning I installed (with the help of my retired-HVAC-instructor father-in-law) a new gas furnace in my house. Everything went fine, except for an errant screw through the A/C A-coil. Oops, that'll need a recharge! :o...

    basement ceiling

Is it really "much" cheaper? Materials wise, yes...but the labor of taping, mudding, sanding, priming and painting probably brings it closer. I agree it does look better though. I did not want to give up easy access to the utilities in the ceiling, and with the direct-mount tracks, you only...

    basement ceiling

Will do. Hope to have it done before winter! :-)

    basement ceiling

I have a bunch of Ceiling Link waiting to be installed in my basement. Looks good. Just need to finish the walls before putting it up.

New to tiling...doing a glass mosaic tile backsplash

If I do that, I'd have to wait until each course has cured before doing another course on top, right? I'm thinking of the area behind the range hood, which will go from counter top to ceiling.

New to tiling...doing a glass mosaic tile backsplash

Thanks for the tips! Fortunately, we'll only be going 1/2 way up to the bottom of the cabinets. I think there is a 1/4" height difference over the course of 8 feet. Not too bad. I have a plastic rafter square that I think will work well to "align" the tiles...so thanks for that tip Nestor...

New to tiling...doing a glass mosaic tile backsplash

Howdy all. We really like the look of 1-inch (nominal) glass mosaic tiles. We have purchased several "sheets" (12 x 12 inch nominal) and will be putting them on the kitchen walls. I have purchased white thinset (premixed), and plan to use an unsanded white grout to finish. I have a few...

    Angle grinder recommendations

Thanks for sharing your experiences...that's exactly what I'm looking for. I do appreciate the knowledge here (Wuzzat?, Nestor, others), sorry if I came off sounding otherwise.

    Angle grinder recommendations

Dude, I get it, you're smart. But, you don't answer questions very well, honestly. I asked: What is the difference between a hand grinder and an angle grinder?

    Angle grinder recommendations

OK, I'll post up some options I'm looking at. BTW - what's the difference between an angle grinder and a hand grinder? The photo of the Bosch is what I'm referring to.

    Angle grinder recommendations

Nerd alert! OK, thanks for the science lesson, but really I'm looking for brand/model suggestions. I don't know the specs of the ones that have failed me, but I do know they were very cheap tools from places like HF. They were both gifted to me, so I just used them with abandon. Whichever...

    Angle grinder recommendations

I'm in the market for a new 4.5" angle grinder. I've had cheapies, and I'm tired of them burning up. I'm considering a 10A DeWalt on Amazon for $90. Anyone have opinions on angle grinders? Thanks.

Any advice on picking a kitchen faucet?

We've been very happy with our Kohler Forte. The single-hole pull-out with output selector (shower or stream) works great on our double Domsjo ceramic sink.

    Insulate an un-heated attached garage?

Well, EPS (extruded polystyrene) more or less IS a vapor retarder (perm of ~1 for the 1.5 and 2" stuff, IIRC). I guess I could use that stuff in the ceiling, since I have access to the attic side of the drywall. I'd have to rip the exterior wall drywall down to install that, though. Would...
  19. Q

    Insulate an un-heated attached garage?

Well, it was drywalled when we bought it...but whoever drywalled it didn't bother to insulate as well. So, that makes a vapor barrier pretty difficult. Why is it necessary in a garage? I won't be heating the garage, but it's getting SOME heat from the attached walls, so I thought it would be...

    Insulate an un-heated attached garage?

Howdy all! I have an attached 2-car garage that shares 1.5 walls with my house. Due to the large quantity of attached surface area, I think it's worth insulating the garage to keep it a few degrees warmer. The exterior walls are drywalled, but there is no insulation in them, nor in the ceiling...
