Can I caulk this sewer end cap gaps?

Not all state or municipalities require purple primer. Illinois if an inspector sees the purple primer it does not have to be pressured tested, but a lot of states you can use clear primer. For the threads I use silicone grease. It helps seal but does not seize the threads.

I understood what you wrote. I was give my reason for not caulking the toilet.

Toilet Leak - Wax Ring Picture

I will not caulk the th toilet down unless it what the customer wants. Caulking down a toilet will hide a leak. I would want the water to leak onto the floor then leak down to the next level. Cheaper to fix a seal than floor replacement.

Toilet Leak - Wax Ring Picture

Plunging a toilet will result in wax ring failure if the plug is in the actual drain line. The pressure from the plunger will in that case break the seal of a wax ring.

Need pro advice-Bottom mount sink granite countertop issue/question

The first cast iron (33"x22") sink I reinstalled is from 2005 with no problems. Still hanging in there. Cleaning of both surfaces is what holds them together. For your problem you may want to enhance the existing brackets by building another structure to help with the load.

Need pro advice-Bottom mount sink granite countertop issue/question

It is not that easy. The whole sink has to be taken out to replace the silicone. It takes me around 4 to 6 hours to do this. Remove plumbing remove sink remove ALL old silicone. Double check ALL old silicone is removed. Build cradle to support weight of sink . Apply silicone and hang sink...

Need pro advice-Bottom mount sink granite countertop issue/question

Yes. Cast iron sinks can and are held in place by silicone. Counter top guys usually install them but occasionally plumber do also. I have reinstalled plenty of them. Silicone is a great adhesive and waterproofer. Again you can always build a cradle to support the sink from underneath...

Need pro advice-Bottom mount sink granite countertop issue/question

Stop tightening the bolts! All you are doing us pulling out the brass grommets that are epoxies into the countertop. The clamps are only there to hold the sink until the silicone set up. Silicone is the only thing holding the sink up. That is it. If you feel the need to "fix" it build a wooden...

    how fix broken faucet?

I promise you ,if you go to a plumber for a free cartridge you will make them laugh. The only way to get your free cartridge is directly from Moen. If you xan spin the cartridge you have a chance of getting it out. The rubber gaskets will fight you the whole way and it will require a tool to...

Is this price legit for a backup sump??

Backup generator come in all different sizes. A 7kw with wifi is about $2000. You can have them automatically switch or manually again its all in how you want it to be. Obviously automatic is more expensive. I am not an electrician or salesman for the product. I am just a plumber.

Is this price legit for a backup sump??

You don't need a whole house generator. All you need is one large enough for the job. And as for mechanical failure I've had more failures with backup systems then just Installing a second pump in the same crock (one submersible and one pedestal). How you spend your money is ultimately up to...

Is this price legit for a backup sump??

The battery back up pumps are incredibly expensive (yes $1500 is not out of line for the system). You get usually a boat bilge pump and all the parts one needs for backup system work. You are far better off getting a backup generator

This is an air gap and legal. It does look bad but is approved an an air gap.

    Dishwasher Drain Problem

All of the drain methods that I have seen on this post are an air break. The suction is broken by air. If the sewer backs up it could siphon back to the dishwasher. An air gap requires a 1 inch gap of air. Most home centers sell a kit with an air gap, stainless steel hose clamps and 7/8 hose...

Well Pump Starts, Then Shuts Down Quickly

Is this a 2 or 3 wire pump? A 3 wire pump will have a control box mounted somewhere near the pressure switch. It seems you have 2 problems Not holding pressure Drawing too many amps The pressure is cracked coupling, bad check valve,or hole in the pipe. The electrical could be a blown...

Kohler Shower Diverter Valve-replace cartrdge or whole valve assembly?

The picture is a Kohler rite temp valve (cartridge type not trim). But from your time period it could be a a coralis. The best thing that you could do is to remove the handle to show the cartridge. The cartridge is not too bad to replace, but can take a while if you have never done it before. A...

    Go to routine drain maintenance?

Cpvc is rate for your 95c. Pvc is 140° farenheit. Hot water in my house is tempered with liberal amounts of cold water. Yes boiling water will deform pvc. The length of contact time will determine the deformity of pvc. At your house you my do what you want. I'm just letting you know.

    Go to routine drain maintenance?

First off Stop pouring boiling water down a pvc drain! Pvc is only rated for 160° . Serious deformities can happen in the pvc otherwise. For maintaining open pipes use a product of or like Bio-clean. It is an enzyme based drain cleaner. It is not a quick cleaner ,but more of a maintenance...
