    Boiler/ forced air system?

Why not just add another hvac unit? Benefits of having more than one is if one fails in the winter or summer is you can still be comfortable in another part of the house until it’s fixed? It doesn’t become an ‘emergency’.

    Gas Tankless water heater options

Well, between working, umpiring and watching my sons h.s. games, I decided to hire out an electrical and plumbing contractor to install an outlet and plumb the hot and cold to the tankless. I bought some unistrut and spring nuts to mount it. Gas has been plumbed for a few years now. Looking...

    Adding a power source outside

Yeah, it’s odd and out of place. Quite certain it comes from attic or ‘piggybacked’ from adjacent bedroom, not sure yet?

    Adding a power source outside

So this is the outlet I want to change to a j box, if it’s plastic should I replace with metal and use the wire clamps to and from and convert to single wires and conduit in crawl space? This outlet is about 10 ft from the crawl space access and where I want to install the new outlet outside...

    Adding a power source outside

Next question: is it recommended to use a metal or plastic box for a junction box and I have some rolls of 12 gauge stranded copper wire from a previous job, can this be used or is solid strand(1) what I need to use?

    Adding a power source outside

The junction box will be within 5 ft of the crawl space access and MC is what? Metal conduit?

    Adding a power source outside

I just read up on the flexible conduit and it appears to be for indoor use. I’ll go with rigid. I’m assuming I will have to have a j box in my crawl space to transition from romex to single wire before going through the conduit.

    Adding a power source outside

I think I have a plan, an existing outlet in the bathroom I will turn into a junction box. From here I will connect romex and go through the floor to the crawlspace run it close to the exterior wall and put another junction box. From that junction box I will go to rigid conduit through the...

    Gas fire place won't start

Awesome, get a simple millivolt HEATING ONLY thermostat, avoid ones that say fan on/auto or cool..glad everything worked out. Or just keep using that same one? Make sure your connections are tight and maybe refresh those connections? Save your money

    Gas fire place won't start

I would now check your switch connections, jump the 2 wires going to the switch. If it comes on you may have too much resistance at the switch(bad sw) or a bad connection.

    Gas Tankless water heater options

I planned on 3/4” from the tankless to the crawl space with a tee at the 1/2” so basically the same thing, no? I imagine I could separate all the 1/2” lines and run 3/4 closer to the fixtures but think it should work without doing so. I guess I’ll find out.

    Gas Tankless water heater options

Thanks, I get what you are saying. I could keep the 40 gal connected to see if the 1/2”works ok before disconnecting it all the way. Actually, I am in no hurry to remove it and thought about keeping it in the loop as a backup. I’m mainly getting the tankless for the endless hot water feature.

    Gas Tankless water heater options

So I’m deciding to get the Noritz NRC 711 OD, I have a 3/4” copper cold feed that needs to be plumbed to it, then I will need to get into my crawl space and install a 1/2x1/2x3/4” tee pretty much between the 2 bathrooms and plumb out for hot side. Still need an AC outlet and plumb the gas to it...

    Gas fire place won't start

Take a pair of needle nose pliers an open them enough to touch the top and bottom screws on the control valve(item you circled above)...don’t worry, it’s DC millivolts and you won’t get shocked.
