Camper potable tank for well tank?

Thanks that is the kind of info I am looking for. This tank does have the valve stem for air fwiw. I know very little about a well so I thought they all needed some type of tank. I know almost nothing about a well set up. I have seen some of the older people use old water heater tanks years ago...

Camper potable tank for well tank?

I plan to hook up a pump on my shallow well soon for outside watering purposes. I have a good potable water tank I pulled from a 30 foot camping trailer. Is there any reason I can't use this as a pressure tank?

    mosquito problem

Thai lemon grass is said to repel them. They do not like mint or pennyroyal. I often crush the leaves from mint and pennyroyal and rub it on me. It keeps the mosquitoes off for a few hours without chemicals. A word of caution if you grow mint or pennyroyal make sure its in a contained area or it...

    Overgrown "Lawn" taming (PICS)

Like others have said start with a controlled burn if ordinances and your comfort level allow. I would till it then remove any large roots and stumps you can. Once it is planted with grass I am sure you will be mowing regular. If you mow regular many of the weeds will not have a chance to go to...

    Getting ride of poison...everything..

I have saw a few references to burning. Please do your best to make sure whatever you burn contains no poison oak or poison ivy. If you think its bad on your skin it is nothing compared to in your lungs. I agree 100% with the goat idea. They will need to come back several times to eradicate it...

    Oil in sump pump motor?

Thanks glennjanie I will get the compressor oil later. I just had the thing together before anyone replied. I sorta doubted anyone would know what those things came with so I tried what I had laying around. Its not critical as I said but may as well get the right stuff. All I do with this thing...

    Oil in sump pump motor?

Thanks for the replies. I would have loved to have worked on just the other end but the three bolts that hold the other end on hold everything together. Ofcourse even after getting the other end off it would not come further apart. Atleast I did not have to support the weight of the whole pump...

    Oil in sump pump motor?

I took my sump pump apart due to it being totally clogged. I discovered the hard way these things have some type of lubricant or coolant inside the motor when I spilled it. Does anyone know what this stuff is and where I can purchase it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    My lights are flickering!

As already said loose connections can do it. Also make sure your house is properly grounded. I had problems with my lights flickering and blowing prematurely. What I found was the galvanized pipe my ground was hooked to was patched by a piece of black poly. The black poly was going into the...

    Compost Pile

A very important note do not try to compost any tobacco waste or throw any butts in your yard. The concern with this is tobacco mosaic disease. Tobaco mosaic disease is not a health concern for you afaik but it will wreak havoc on your tomato crop as well as some other crops.

    Compost Pile

I understand your point of view on this. You don't want anyone to go halfhearted in their approach to composting and turn it into a pathogenic mess with poo. I actually appreciate your comments on this. It got me to thinking just because I have been composting for years and succesfully used...

    Compost Pile

I don't disagree with the opinions about using poo. I would not personally import poo. I just have to compost it because with the reality of me having about 15 head of farm animals and growing it is there. I can not just load it in the truck and take it to the dump because it is considered a...

    Compost Pile

You really have to be selective about what poop you use. No doggy human or kitty stuff. Plus I would suggest anyone turn their compost pile just before they take a shower poop or no poop. I have seen severely mismanaged compost piles with and without poop. When people overload it with nitrogen...

    Compost Pile

My compost is starting in my animal pen. I have woodmulch for my bedding material. I get the woodmulch free from a local firewood dealer. I feed all my vegetable scraps and old bread to the chickens and ducks. The rabbits get a few veggy scraps too. Don't worry the rabbits are in hanging cages...

How many folks use the energy saving bulbs?

I use cfls like crazy. During the summer time I use them in all my fixtures. They use less power and fight the ac less. During the winter I do switch back to incandescents because it does help some with the heat.(kerosene is expensive) I have also switched from crt monitors as they went out to...
