Grout and Caulk questions - with pics...

So the 10lb bag is plenty for a full shower?

Grout and Caulk questions - with pics...

Cool, thanks, now I see it... I'll probably get the 25lb. bag over the 10lb. to be on the safe side. What's the best kind of container to mix it in? some sort of shallow tray maybe?

Grout and Caulk questions - with pics...

Cool, thanks. I used an oscillating tool with carbide grout removal bit already, but it was harder going than I thought it would be. There are still bits of grout left here and there, but I think it's pretty close. I will go over it again with a utility knife and then do the re-grout...

Grout and Caulk questions - with pics...

Hey thanks! But sorry, the grout question is separate... I was wondering if in the first pics enough of the old grout has been removed so that I can re-grout?

Grout and Caulk questions - with pics...

Cool, I was planning on doing the painter's tape thing for the caulking, looks like a good method... But those gaps aren't too large for caulk alone? Also, is enough of the grout removed or do I need to remove more?

Grout and Caulk questions - with pics...

Questions: 1) Have I removed enough of the old grout, to allow proper adhesion for the new grout? In the pics where you can see some grout still in there, I have taken it out in those spots, so there is a recess there, it's just hard to see in the pics. Or do I need to remove more? 2) Are...

    Rotted window sill question...

Great thanks for the suggestions. The thing is it's so cold here now (20's at night, 30's during the day) that I don't think I can do any painting or caulking. Bondo may be ok in the cold though...

    Rotted window sill question...

I have a rotted window sill where about 20% of it is all rotted away in one corner; part of the bottom of the side trim is rotted as well. How can I cover them up, or temporarily fix them to get me through the winter until I can fix them properly in the spring? I don't want water to get in...

    Info needed on No-VOC primers...

Does anyone have any experience using any of the following interior latex No-VOC primers? - Ben Moore Natura - Sherwin Williams Harmony - Olympic Premium - Freshaire Choice These all have zero vocs, and that is what I want. Zero-vocs. Not Low-vocs, but zero. Anyone here ever used these?

    Advice needed on paint prep...

Thanks for all of the info. Interesting, I'll have to consider that now, although at this point I was resigned to try sanding/smoothing the flaked areas again, then sand and TSP the entire interior, as opposed to trying to remove the entire top coat. Totally agree. (I think Handyguy was just...

    Advice needed on paint prep...

Nice. Yeah, I plan on washing with TSP, then using BM Fresh Start Latex Primer (or Kilz2 perhaps?), then latex paint. Those bastards! Do you mean just the loose paint around the current flaking areas, or do you mean the entire surface of the interior? Also, I planned on priming everything...

    Advice needed on paint prep...

Ok, I just tested for lead with the Homax Lead Check kit, and everything came back with no lead. So, 2 questions: 1) Is the trim de-glossed enough at this point to prime (last pic) 2) What to do now with the interior of the closet? (first 3 pics)

    Advice needed on paint prep...

Thanks for your time. I'm sure the top coat is oil, because the previous home-owner left the can here (that is also how I know it doesn't contain lead, as nothing on the can indicates that). As far as the adhesion, it is worse in the areas where the paint is already flaking off, but I...

    Advice needed on paint prep...

I am in the process of prepping the interior of a closet for painting. The existing paint on there now is oil based and probably put on sometime in the '70s (although I'm not positive of exactly when). Anyway, there were some areas where it was scraped off a bit (I think where clothes would...

drywall repair next to an outlet - advice needed...

oh yeah, that was the other option i had in mind; cutting out to the other stud on the left and putting in a larger piece with a new outlet hole in that piece. or i might just patch the existing hole with a new piece of drywall then tape and compound over that... it seems the larger patch...

drywall repair next to an outlet - advice needed...

I need to repair some drywall next to an outlet (see pics) and am trying to find the best solution. Possible ways I am thinking about doing it are: - One of those mesh patches with the aluminum. Not sure about those though because of the unsupported side next to the outlet. Or any other kind...
