Adding an outlet to a circuit of BX wiring w/ metal boxes?

That is the approach I have taken with my house. All the "high draw" stuff is getting new wiring. My kitchen has been completely rewired, the outlets that window A/C units get plugged into have brand new dedicated circuits and my bathrooms are next. I'm basically trying to get it to the point...

Adding an outlet to a circuit of BX wiring w/ metal boxes?

I think I've arrived at a different decision. I have to refinish a piece of the floor in the spring anyway. When I'm doing that I plan on chopping the wires and pulling them both into the basement and putting them together in a junction box, eliminating this outlet from the circuit. Then I'll...

Cedar Deck Staining/finishing Questions (new deck)

Good luck! You'll love the Cedar look. I built my first deck out of cedar a few years ago and I love the look. I wish I had tried Sikkens from the getgo, I have tried 2 diff. stains so far. One thing that sucks these days is that the VOC laws have outlawed oil based stains. The stores will...

    Wiring my garage

I need to rewire mine, it has ancient wires just buried 6" under the ground - no conduit. I still haven't decided exactly how I'll do mine, but I had everything dug up for other reasons so I buried the conduit so that I'll have flexibility later. It might be a good place to start.

Adding an outlet to a circuit of BX wiring w/ metal boxes?

This outlet is in my guestroom, but it's the same single gang box with one coming in and one going out as well as the outlet, so 3 sets of wires total in the box.

insulating the attic of a 1955 ranch..what is this foil film?

Yep - found some of that in my house as well (1930). I literally let out a chuckle and mumbled to myself "Are you what they thought of as a radiant barrier back in the day?"

    Attic Insulation Baffles?

I don't see any baffles. Was the contractor supposed to install them? The slope doesn't look very steep so I'm guessing there's no side attic - do you have soffit vents?

How to "push pull or tow" insulation into this space?

Thanks. I thought about the spray foam, but decided against it for a couple of reasons, cost being one, but also the fact that I'm not doing the entire attic. If the attic was open and the plaster was down I'd definitely do spray foam and it might happen at some point in the future.

Holy crap! What a difference! I just covered my "asbestos suspect" tiles w/ a new floor since it was in my den.

How to "push pull or tow" insulation into this space?

I have a Cape Cod from 1930, I'm sure this is not a shocker but it's underinsulated...... Side attic Kneewall has no insulation in it which is on the list. Side Attic floor / living room ceiling has no insulation in it which is on the list. Rafters are insulated / OOOLLLLDDD insulation...
