Generator install - unique home wiring or not

Ok, so as a follow up - the licensed genny guy came in and did his stuff. He followed the rules related to the multi branch circuits, etc. I was doing some testing to make sure all the label are correct and I am having a MINOR issue (I THINK). I had a multi branch circuit that...

Outdoor THHN transition to Indoor Romex

My father in law (who used to be a licensed) can't remember exactly the right way to finish this off. We had a builder run some THHN for some new outdoor lights. He terminated at the outdoor Jbox and we now have to bring it to the new subpanel, which is indoor in the basement of course...

Generator install - unique home wiring or not

Ok trying to catch up.... Yes...Hot water tank is GAS, but it has a FAN to provide AIR - it uses VERY LITTLE JUICE - yet it is on its own 20 amp circuit (of course tied into the foyer light - which is 4 20 watt bulbs). So I should be able to tie those together into one new circuit ? No way...

Generator install - unique home wiring or not

Correct...my main panel has 42 20 amp breakers. My Genny (if I ever get it going) will power most of the critical circuits but not all. Keep in mind (although I am no expert) the total amps of the breakers installed nearly always exceed the service as these are not directly related. Although...

Generator install - unique home wiring or not

Yeah I agree with not listening to the neighbor. As a side note...is there ANY WAY to split out these circuits...without rewiring the whole house ?

Generator install - unique home wiring or not

Ok, I did a bit more research and I THINK this is called multi-wire branch circuit (MWBC). Hope this helps.

Generator install - unique home wiring or not

I was not sure what to call this thread....so here we go. I bought a Generator that would power 10 - 20 amp circuits in my house. We live in the country and often lose power, especially in the dead of night in the winter...plus I travel. So wife does not love getting up in the middle of the...

    In Ground Pool Wiring Help

So does this mean this is a super complicated subject or is my question so off that no one wants to even start trying to help - if so, I get it...please just let me know.

    In Ground Pool Wiring Help

I need to have my father in law (who is an electrician - but he is not totally current on all codes, etc) run me a new "outside box". I currently have 200 amp service, with a 60 amp sub panel for my finished basement. For my new panel for the pool, I need a 40 amp 220V for a small heat pump to...

Electrical Questions here or in Electrical Forum

So I have a "Detailed" electrical question for in ground pool wiring. Should I ask this in this forum or just in the main electrical. Figured I would ask before I start writing a novel. Thanks in advance!

    General Cost?

I'll try to help a bit...so I was given this number by a few folks locally. $1,000 per ft. So a 20 ft long pool (assuming not 20 ft wide of course) would be roughly $20K. Includes install, basic pump, 4ft of concrete around pool, NO COVER. Nothing fancy...just a basic install...and then of...

Whole House Sub Panel Surge Protection

I have a basement remodel in progress...my father in law (who is an electrician, actually used to be, now 80 years old), anyways...he helped me install a secondary 60 amp sub panel to feed the entire basement. The secondary panel is a GE panel. My circuits are all 20 amp with 12/2...yes I...

    Basement Ceiling Help

I assume you mean that the safe and sound is NOT THREE times as quiet...or it is at least more than 3 times quiet, perhaps justifying the cost.

    Basement Ceiling Help

Safe N Sound is 3 times the price of regular insulation...so now I just gotta figure out if it is 3 times as quiet. Plus I can't find anyplace that sell the tracks....

    Basement Ceiling Help

So as an update we can get safe and sound in the US....guess I was thinking about another product. I found it as a special order at lowes - WOW is it expensive. May not be worth it... Do you all think just the nomal r-13/r-19 is a total waste of money well, and if I can't afford the right...
