    Question about painting metal door

    Sometimes latex paint does not bond good to some of the primer that comes on new doors.....even if you prep it really good. I always use a exterior oil base primer on new doors before I top coat them ....never have had anymore problems with them.

    The last two pics look like water damage....you will need to stop the water from splashing on the doors or it will do it again after you patch it.... first pic looks like some chaulk or painters putty will do the trick.....second pic chaulk if the wood is not rotten ....if rotten dig the soft...

    Make your shelf go all the way around the posts with whatever overhang you need to bed the crown mold to....in other words make the post look like it is going up through the shelf board.

    You have peirs under the house that are deteirating or have tilted and or Termite/powder post beetles or water damage to main seals This means your main supporting beams are damaged and letting the home settle. Call several foundation repair contractors to get estimates

    From your pics it appears to not to be from foundation settlement...If this room was an addition, check the rafters ...they probably used 2x4 rafters and they are sagging.

    Depends on the causes of your settlement problems...If it is termites or rotten seals it could get into some money. If settlement is from your foundation/footings settling it also could cost....if it has settled 3" . when you do try to relevel it that much it will crack plaster/sheetrock and all...
