    Mechanical Water Timer

Hey guys, I've been searching high and low for a good quality mechanical water timer. All the ones I find are either pure plastic or one side is brass and the other plastic. Are there any out there that have a solid brass construction on both sides? I currently own two Orbit Mechanical Water...

    Constant clogging issues

First off, I forgot all about this thread. Sorry :( The clogs came back (this was a year ago already) in December of 2013, to the point where nothing was going through. So, my dad and I dug up a trench on the outside, right before the clean-out that I had installed previously. My dad...

    Constant clogging issues

Short update to this fiasco before I get the camera... yesterday I was able to clear the clog. With a plunger on my toilet. Go figure. I'll come back to report the results of the camera inspection.

    Constant clogging issues

I'm actually waiting for a scope that I ordered online. I have to figure it out on my own since the first three plumbers used a camera and saw nothing wrong. I'm guessing they just didn't take the time to find it. Right now the drains are slowly going down so there is definitely some blockage...

    Constant clogging issues

Hey guys, I realize it's really hard to diagnose plumbing issues if you're not there, but maybe you can help me with a bit of a mystery. If not, then this will help me vent at least :D I bought a house a couple of years ago that was built in 1969. Cast iron pipes galore. The first year I had...

Suggestions on replacing patio's PVC roof panels

Wow, good job on that hybrid roof, it looks nifty! I found the galvanized panels at McCoys, for $15 a piece. Come next paycheck, that's where I'll get them.

Suggestions on replacing patio's PVC roof panels

Interesting... I was just asking my coworkers and they recommended Tractor Supply and a couple of lumber yards. I'll add feed stores to my search for galvanized roofing. Thanks for the pointer!

Suggestions on replacing patio's PVC roof panels

Ah, that makes sense. Not sure if it's needed or just a best practice, but I'll try to implement this once I remove the old panels.

Suggestions on replacing patio's PVC roof panels

CallMeVilla, wouldn't that be taken care of by those cross pieces already there? See second picture. I agree it looks ugly.

Suggestions on replacing patio's PVC roof panels

notmrjohn, I had been considering galvanized panels, but I had been a bit hesitant because of what Precision Home Services and BridgeMan mention, the reduction of light. But, I could do with a little less light, since I have windows galore in that room. I'm a bit ambivalent about the light...

Suggestions on replacing patio's PVC roof panels

I have a small patio that was covered with transparent PVC sheets. I liked all the light they let in, but they are all broken and full of holes, so it's time to think about replacing them. However, since I live in Texas, the sunlight that they let through heats up the room that is adjacent to...

    Water Softener drain

As far as the brown spot, I don't ahve anything planted there, just colored mulch, for decoration purposes. I guess I'll find out if it gets affected by the salt being drained onto it. InspectorD, what do you mean by the media? Is that the resin?

    Water Softener drain

I looked through the forums but couldn't find anything on this subject. A couple of months ago we started experiencing loss in water pressure throughout the house. eventually we got no pressure at all. Suspecting the water softener, I placed it in bypass mode and sure enough, the pressure...

    Radiant Barrier Dilemma

OK, got it. I went to Home Depo on Sunday and found this: Henry 555 Premium Aluminum Roof Coating 4.75 Gal. However, upon closer inspection, I read on the bucket that I should never use it on regular asphalt shingles, as it may curl up the edges of older shingles. My shingles are one year old...

    Radiant Barrier Dilemma

Perry, so can I assume that you recommend painting the roof white or silver? Is there something else that I should know about that process before I go out and buy a gallon of roof paint?

Very odd loss of pressure house wide when tub runs.

I just wanted to drop in to say that I am having the same issue, but with the salt receptacle full. Water pressure would start OK, then drop after a few minutes (in the shower) or a few seconds (in the yard). Yes, I know, the yard shouldn't be softened, but I just moved this year and that's how...
