Add sound deadening to existing ceiling

Thank you for all the replies. I'll start looking at these options and weigh the costs (and ask the ultimate boss of course!)

Add sound deadening to existing ceiling

I've got a lake house that was built a few years ago. The primary bedroom is on the first floor with two bedrooms and a bath above it. I asked for but I suspect, did not get sound insulation installed between the two floors. The second floor is hardwood - and that isn't being ripped up to add...

Who makes Railings with these baluster ends?

Trying to replace several that have been broken off. Did the google image search on just the connector - still no luck.

Who makes Railings with these baluster ends?

The material is a composite of some sort (the dark color) and the railings are held on with metal brackets. The system includes sleeves that fit over 4x4 posts.

Who makes Railings with these baluster ends?

I did lots of searching when a few of these broke over the winter (young adults swinging shovels) with no luck. I do recall speaking with the deck guy and he was telling me that he travels up and down the east coast installing decks and that the railing company asked him to do a demo on...

Who makes Railings with these baluster ends?

I have a railing that was installed by the landscape company doing our back yard - so I had no input or idea what system they were using - I did ask a few questions but... The balusters are connected to the railing with these pieces that go into each end and the railing is slid onto it. They...

Multi-zone HVAC (single furnace) - can one tstat be COOL and one tstat be HEAT

Found the answer for my setup: From: https://www.ewccontrols.com/acrobat/090375a0226.pdf Opposing System Service Timer A 20 minute delay must expire, or the active zone(s) must satisfy, before the panel will honor a thermostat demand to changeover to the opposite mode of system operation...

Multi-zone HVAC (single furnace) - can one tstat be COOL and one tstat be HEAT

Again - thanks... Its a Goodman furnace (15 yrs old or so) propane fired - with an A-coil sitting on top for the A/C Control board is a EWC NCM-300

Multi-zone HVAC (single furnace) - can one tstat be COOL and one tstat be HEAT

Thanks. This would result in both zones getting 'warmish' air ( I believe). Given: - both zones are opened by the control board - The AC compressor kicks on and will be cooling the pipes in the A-coil - below that the flames are going to provide heat. - The blower turns on blowing hot...

Multi-zone HVAC (single furnace) - can one tstat be COOL and one tstat be HEAT

For me - the answer is no - it will greatly shorten the life of the furnace/a-coil. In any house I have owned that had zones, I have always 'made the switch' at one time. All tstats go to HEAT in the fall and they all go back to COOL in the spring. Lets say I have a very cold basement and a...

Finishing a Basement: Existing 1st floor has R30 kraft face - Do I need to remove the paper?

OK- the story is vapor barrier goes against the heated area. So, kraft paper is up against the first floor sub-floor. I am now finishing off and heating/AC (most of the time) the basement - turning that 1st floor insulation into an inner wall insulation. Should I remove it all - pull the...

Under Counter RO System - hooking the drain line up - options?

Several months ago I put in an under the counter RO system - it came with a saddle-style connection to connect to the sink's drain line. It also came with a 'if you are installing this in the state of MA, you must call a licensed plumber as saddle connections are not allowed' Well, I grew up in...

Great stuff! How long to wait to reinstall trim???

I'm sure you've already put the trim back on but waiting until its hardened is the best option. The door/window stuff is low expansion but until that stuff is hard I don't trust it not to move a little.
