    4 wires (plus ground) running to 3-way

    Why would someone run 5 wires (3 black, 1 red and 1 ground) into a 3-way switch? If 1 of the blacks is the common/hot, then would it make sense to splice the other 2 blacks to one terminal, the red to the other terminal and ground to the ground terminal?

    drain in fiberglass shower pan question

    hi, i am replacing the rubber gasket in a fiberglass shower drain. there are no screws, copper pipe, connectors or any other form of "snugging up" the pipes. before i replace the rubber gasket, should i remove the fiberglass piece that the gasket sits in (as well as the metal drain cover...

    hunter ceiling fan

    thanks for the info. we think we may have figured out at least the solution tho i'm not sure of the "why". if we leave the wall switch on and operate the fan and lite via the remote, all is fine. no flashing or other crazy fan behaviors. works for us but i have no idea why! :)

    hunter ceiling fan

    hi! i have a hunter ceiling fan with lights and remote controller (battery). recently when turning on the fan via the wall switch, the light comes on momentarily then flashes on and off. sometimes the fan comes on "high". the remote works sporadically and may or may not turn the fan off...
