    Glass cooktop wiring

Think I am hearing , the junction box on the wall contains a bare earth ground , a red , a black and a white . The " whip " from the appliance contains all of those , except the white . White is suppose to be neutral . Your appliance is 240 VAC , single phase and there is evidently no...

Adding a new 15A circuit to this panel

I could not see well enough to determine if the panel in the photo had a bonding screw installed , or not . If said panel is the panel with the " main " , the neutral bar and the earth ground bare are required to be bonded and the earth ground also is always bonded to the panel enclosure...

Adding a new 15A circuit to this panel

OK , I am going to talk about some of the code issues . Not so much as to explain why . This does not cover all cases , but I am attempting to cover what the OP is most likely seeing / working with . For many / most residential customers , if you have an overhead service , the utility...

    Wax seal

I recommend a Fernco wax free toilet seal . The top part sticks to the bottom of the toilet and the rubber part goes into the sewer pipe . Have not used wax rings in years . Home Depot lists a 4" , a 3-1/2" and a 3" size . God bless Wyr https://www.homedepot.com/s/wax%2520free?NCNI-5

Adding a new 15A circuit to this panel

Looking at the file / photo , you need to connect to 2 hots ( on opposite phases ) , a neutral and an earth ground . Not per code , but I would , personally put 2 grounds under one screw terminal , on the ground bar and be done with it . If you have a 2 pole 60 amp circuit breaker...

Adding a new 15A circuit to this panel

Very wise . I have a good 40 years in the electrical trade ( pretty much retired now ) . Would be a non issue to me , but I figured you might be uneasy doing it your self . Therefore my mention of the need for caution . Something you could do , relatively safely . Use a non...

Adding a new 15A circuit to this panel

If you are worried about the total connected load , use a clamp on amp meter and leasure the load , on both phases / hots , coming into the panel . If you are qualified to do that , safely . God bless Wyr

Adding a new 15A circuit to this panel

Is there a reason you wish to install a 15 amp circuit , in stead of a 20 amp circuit . Were it me , I would run a 12/2 W/ground Romex for the circuit , remove one of the 20 amp circuit breakers and install a 20/20 twin circuit breaker in its place . Terminate the origional wire to one...

Is running EMT under the eave of the house considered out doors and I have to use waterproof couplers?

https://www.homedepot.com/s/emt%2520coupling?NCNI-5 Home Depot gives a price of about twice as much for 1/2" Compression Steel Couplings . Die cast are probably cheaper , we rarely use die cast . Still , how many are you going to need ? God bless Wyr

Double up wax rings or use an adapter?

I have used these for the last 10 - 20 years on our toilets , in stead of wax rings . Available in 3" , 3-1/2" and 4" sizes . Sticks to the underneath of the toilet stool / bowl , at the discharge and sticks down , into the flange ...

Two guesses . 1 - The HVAC equipment is designed to run 24/7 . 2 - The equipment would last , more hours of run time , it it never shut off . God bless Wyr

    Ductless mini split

We have a 13 SEER , 12000 BTU A/C - Heat pump mini split in the living room ( not an inverter style ) . It has been having some problems and pretty much stopped cooling last night . Sounded like the compressor was not starting . Fans seemed to be functioning . This morning , while it...

Why does my AC drop into fan mode when temp has not been reached yet?

Many / most A/C / Refrigeration systems leak . From a tiny amount that is not noticeable for years , to a major leak that necessitates topping off one or more times per year / season . A matter of degree . The refrigerant does not " wear out " , it just , usually , leaks out . Some...

Why does my AC drop into fan mode when temp has not been reached yet?

A/C and refrigeration work on temperatures and pressures . First of all , check and replace as necessary , your filters . Is the indoor fan blowing well ? Low on refrigerant is a common cause of the indoor coil freezing up . Not difficult to diagnose , once you get the gauges /...

Correct way (per code) to add additional items to an outlet that is on it's own circuit?

True , but I do not remember any prohibition to also installing the kitchen lighting on general lighting and receptacle circuits . Or or installing general purpose convenience outlets on lighting and receptacle circuits . I could be incorrect on that ? In commercial work , it is quite...

Best approach for resurfacing flat roof?

Not trying to be a smart mouth . But truly , the best solution ( maybe not the cheapest ) is to put up trusses and a conventional roof . God bless Wyr

Correct way (per code) to add additional items to an outlet that is on it's own circuit?

Referring to residential dwellings , code provides for lighting and receptacle circuits . It is perfectly legal to connect a mix of light fixtures and receptacles to such a circuit . I personally prefer to keep them separate . But , that is just me and most of my experience has been...
