    Funny Pictures and stories....

I don't think the Santa line story is real, but if it were I don't see anything wrong with someone his own age stepping in to stop the bully.

Had a run in with my equipment rental company today.

That's just crazy. What kind of "manager" risks pissing off a big customer over something so petty? If you decide to take your business elsewhere I'd be sure and let someone above him in the rental company know why. Where I come from major customers get every benefit of doubt in situations like...

    The debate

Running for political office is the same as competing on a reality show. The more outrageous things you say the better your chance of winning. It's not about ideas, it's about popularity. Truly sad that this is how our leaders are selected.

    New tool for my birthday

I've had that same set for a couple years. I really like it as it's got good power for a 12 volt. And it's small enough to get in tight places and light enough to not tire you out. I'd say you did good! Oh, and happy birthday.

    Funny Pictures and stories....

Can't say that I'd ever seen that movie so I went to Wikipedia to read the synopsis. It's supposedly set in the year 2022, and I don't think things will get that bad that fast! Kind of like Orwell's 1984, a lot of it may well come to pass, just not as soon as the story has it happening. I read...

What exactly is tofu? I hear about it a lot but don't know for sure what it is. I guess it's some kind of fake meat? Not like turkey hamburger which isn't really hamburger but at least it is some kind of meat. Is tofu vegetable based fake meat?

    Funny Pictures and stories....

Nope, don't agree as the wife does the grilling at our house. Grilling is still cooking and cooking is her job. We've been married for 38 years and over that time have negotiated who's responsible for what. General rules are inside the house = her job. Outside the house = my job. That makes...

    Minimum wage increase

Let me just add, and maybe it's not relevant to this discussion, but when I first entered the workforce in 1969 the minimum wage was $1.60/hr and that's what I was paid. I didn't feel that I was somehow entitled to a higher wage, and I didn't intend to work for that wage indefinitely. I was a...

    Minimum wage increase

I didn't take anything you said as a personal attack. There's nothing wrong with an exchange of ideas among people with differing viewpoints. Maybe I've just been playing the game wrong my whole life. I never made big money, but never felt poor either. I think we have a lot. A nice home that's...

Real poker or that Texas hold-em crap? :)

    Minimum wage increase

Higher wages = higher prices. I don't see how anyone can argue this isn't the case. No one can force the market to adjust wages up while holding prices level. It just won't happen. So those minimum wage workers who get a temporary raise will see it dissipate as prices catch up. And everyone...

    Am I a genius or a redneck?

Genius or redneck? I'd say both. Looks like something I'd do, so it has to be a great idea. The only thing I wonder about is how well it works mounted at floor level since cold air tends to sink anyways. Does it adequately cool the air up higher off the floor? Or are your ankles...

how a wind turbine is built.

Thank you. That was very interesting. Imagine how hard it must be to line up and slide on the sections without tearing up the threads on the studs!

    And in Canada

Cash? Governments don't need cash, they just spend money they don't have and add it to the deficit. Or is that only the US?

    Leveling ground problems

For sure renting equipment is often a good deal. When I needed to level a spot for my garage I rented a bobcat for the weekend for $285. For that price I had use of it from Friday afternoon till Monday morning with a total of something like 12 hours of run time, and they both dropped it off and...

    Leveling ground problems

Here's a picture of the old pool where you can see how the yard slopes. It doesn't look like much where the pool is, but remember 40 tons of dirt was removed to level the pool area. Here's one of the framework going up on the new pool. You can see the block retaining wall keeping the...

    Leveling ground problems

We've had two different pools in our backyard over the years, as we had one for about 20 years while our son was little, then took it out when he grew up as no one ever seemed to use it and it was to the point that it needed repairs due to wall rust. After a few years without a pool the wife...

    Funny Pictures and stories....

My wife saw one of our cats acting suspiciously around her slippers so she went to investigate. Turns out he was stashing a dead mouse in there. It would have been real interesting if she hadn't seen him and had put the slippers on.
