how much does block concrete fence cost?

That site does not say anything about a footer. I dont know what the frost line in louisiana is but 425ft of footer plus block to get up to grade will easily cost 10k-15k extra.

    major repairs on supporting beams

I dont see any obvious red flags. I would be surprised if there was a permit pulled and that it would pass inspection. But I dont see the structure falling down. As a neighbor I would be happy they are fixing the place up and hopefully it will look nice when done. Maybe offer to help clean up...

    Slope, Drainage, and Driveway Problem

Keep in mind that since your old drive was heaving that means water was getting under driveway then freezing. Most french drain system do nothing in winter. If it was me I would install a french drain with a liner under it going up to a birm higher than driveway.

    Sweat 3" Copper

If it was a drain pipe with under 1 psi or water pipe up to 80 psi, would be the deciding factor here.

    How to curve deck skirt?

I made a curved front porch. I had some Composite fencing pickets laying around and used them for skirting. At only 1/2" thick they were pretty flexible but it should be warm outside or at least have them sitting in sun. Its been 2 years and it still looks perfect.

Buyer beware - under-filled propane tanks!

New tank cost $30 and its about $7 cheaper to refill taking account for lost propane around me. So If you have to exchange a tank instead of refill more than 4 times in 12 years it would balance out. A little less than I thought. So you would have to be a little picky when picking out your...

Buyer beware - under-filled propane tanks!

Refilling your tank is definitely cheaper. But throwing away your outdated tank and buying a new one is probably not cheaper. Cheaper to exchange the tank and hope you get one that has majority of the 12 or 10 years life left on tank. Or just be an annoying customer checking the dates on tanks...

Buyer beware - under-filled propane tanks!

You have to figure in the fact that tanks are only good for 12 years and refill station around me are getting more strict at looking on the date stamp on tank before they refill them. So when they are out of date people take a worthless tank to exchange place and get a good tank mostly filled...

HillyBilly special lean to lea to temp wall

A dollar saved is a dollar earned. With taxes more like $1.30. So Im all for what your doing. Your lucky there is no snow load. If you can walk on roof without alot of bounce i doubt it is in danger of falling down. I would start by removing anything that is not load bearing from old...

    Kitchen Nook Bench Seat

There is many ways to frame a bench seat.. Here is a pretty easy design Use furniture grade 3/4 plywood for sides attach a 2x4 every 24" oc. on top to support top. Just screw/nail through plywood and toe nail it into cleat against wall. Trim all edges with 1x3's for a finished...

HillyBilly special lean to lea to temp wall

As far as resale goes I dont think you can make this house buyable at least above land value without framing out a new roof. So if you planning on selling it ever be aware any money and effort you are putting into the interior you will probably not get back. So what Im say is refiance and go...

    Laundry water shutoffs question

I little heat could help. You probably just need bigger wrenches though. If you have pipe dope i would use that. It is harder for a first timer to mess up. The tape takes a little skill. You have to put it on right direction pull it tight but not too tight. You have to put enough on but not...

    Laundry water shutoffs question

    Laundry water shutoffs question

I would be more worried about replacing that clamp on gasket fitting than the valve. For Diyer you can use sharkbite fittings or compression shark bite

why is water coming out of the showerhead and handheld shower at the same time.

I got the 2 shower heads mixed up. Its like neal said with an internal shut off or if the ceiling was lowered you could use this at the rain head...

    Attic Space Conversion

I constantly think of adding living space to my trusses attic myself. I hate to be negative but it seems like a doable project but in reality it is a huge project. An addition would be easier and cheaper. 10k is way off for materials its probably closer to 40k by the time your done.

Found mold during home inspection, owner says its not mold

I have this on my roof sheathing too. Took to long on my remodel I guess letting warm air into attic like neal said. I sprayed some industrial mold killer on it and sealed the the attic from house better. The black is still there wood is stained I hope that it is dead but since air does not...

why is water coming out of the showerhead and handheld shower at the same time.

Im not sure what you are using for a shut off valve but it obviously isn't working. Try a different shut off valve. Use something like this

Rim joist / sill plate? What to do?

Not sure what that small board is. With a 100 year old house it is really hard to know what is going on and if it is a old issue or not. If the structural boards looks solid I wouldn't mess with it. Bend up a piece of aluminum coil stock so that it looks like aluminum siding to cover it.
