    Help Diagnosing Gas Dryer Problem

Well...I tried to fire up the dryer last night to see if the ignitor was glowing, etc, and the dryer fired up no problem. So, it appears it's not a blown fuse. What could cause an intermittent problem like this??? :help:

    Help Diagnosing Gas Dryer Problem

Hello, I'm hoping for some help diagnosing a problem with our gas dryer! Symptom 1: We first noticed the dryer not heating after doing multiple loads of laundry back to back...i.e. it would do fine with the first load and if we started another load it wouldn't heat for long. If we waited...

Furnace shuts off and restarts back up repeatedly

Yes that is my plan. The house is holding steady at 64, but won't heat further than that...so I thought it could've been the stat...but I successfully jumped it with no luck. The furnace did not stay running. Still in search of ideas! One other thing I'm going to try is to check the exhaust...

Furnace shuts off and restarts back up repeatedly

OK...since cleaning the flame sensor...same as before. No change in behavior. Is this worth outright replacing (they're not too expensive from what I can see). I also tried changing the batteries in the stat...no change (figured there wouldn't be but we tried that anyways). Could this be a...

Furnace shuts off and restarts back up repeatedly

That's where I thought it was...but I wasn't sure. I located it, took it out and cleaned it with light sandpaper, and put it back in. I didn't notice any really significant buildup of crud on there or anything though. I'll post tomorrow morning on how it worked out. Thanks guys!

Furnace shuts off and restarts back up repeatedly

Hi all. Our furnace is doing this thing where it'll start up, run for 1 minute, then shut off. Then rinse and repeat. Sometimes it'll get up to the temp set on the stat, sometimes not. This is a forced air gas furnace, new in 2006. If I go downstairs and hit the electric kill switch on the...

    fixing squeaks in hardwood floor

That's what I figured. Should the screws be toenailed through a joist and up into the plank flooring? Not sure what kind of subfloor is under the wood but do the screws need to dig into that also? Thanks.

    fixing squeaks in hardwood floor

Hi all. I'm covering a large section of old hardwood flooring in my 1960s house with carpet soon (kids and dogs need something softer to run around on). Beforehand though, I really want to take care of some of the nasty squeaks in the floor. Naturally, they're prominant in the areas that are...

Kitchen wall cabinets without base cabinets??

Hello all, I have sort of a weird question about kitchen design... Right now I have a short wall (maybe 50") in my kitchen where there are wall cabinets installed but no base cabinets underneath. The reason for this is that my dishwasher opens along this wall...which kills the space along...
