We recently bought a house from an estate. Our house inspector could not find an access to our roof and after taking possession, neither have we! Obviously the old owner is no condition to let us know either.

Our home is quite old and there hasn't been work done on it in decades. We are planning on re-roofing this year and need some advice.

Should we get the insulation changed before we re-roof (ie go through existing roof) or should we get an access put in from our second floor and change the insulation from there. The roof is quite small looking from the outside.

Suggestions would be most welcomed!

Hey Shawn welcome; unless you have a really low sloped roof you should have access to the attic. Most times there are 28" x 22" and depending on what you have some re-structuring may have to be done to make it full size. Checking insulation, roof and soffet vents and air travel is a good idea before the roof is replaced.
