Hello friends.
I'll get right to it:
- Home built in 1999 in Central Indiana.
- Second floor dryer vent opening on side of house can be described this way: What I believe is the standard 5" round flex tubing terminates at the outside of the house inside of a 5" x 5" thick plastic square that is built into the house.
- The 5" x 5" square piece, when I first bought the house, had a dryer vent cover that snapped INTO it. So the vent cover, which had a flat surface with four louvers, was firmly locked INTO the square piece.
- Fast forward to now: That original vent cover was broken and is now long gone for maybe the last 5-6 years. In its place is a replacement bought at Mernard's that fits onto the OUTSIDE of the 5" x 5" plastic piece in the wall. Doesn't snap, just firmly fits over the opening.
- As of the wind and snow of this last week, this too large dryer vent cover keeps working its way off and falling. Between Gorilla tape and caulk, the jenky fix is no longer viable.
- I saw a YouTube video maybe two years ago in which the guy removed the dryer vent cover to clean the vents of a dangerous amount of lint -- when I saw him remove the cover I actually said out loud "That's the one!", since I have never, ever been able to find this type of vent cover anywhere. I'll try to find the video and attach it to this thread.
Thanks for any guidance if this sounds like something you've seen.
