Attaching sofit to stucco

I was told that it is better to put stucco all the way up and then attach the sofit to stucco rather then doing sofits first and installing stucco up to the sofit. Is this correct?

And what screws would have to be used to attached the c-channel to the stucco?

I would put up the soffet first.
