Noticed this post was rotting a few weeks back. Looks like the poured concrete and the pipe is down inside the concrete instead of on top.

The walls look much newer than the post you removed. Looks like whoever built the walls let the walls take over for the bad post. The column you put in to replace it is a good idea but depending on what it is holding up it should have had a footing below it and not just the floor. Pictures of what was above would tell us more about what the post was there for.
