I really hate the railing system inside of my house for the stairs that take you to the second floor. I really like the look of cable rails but at around $100 a sqft it doesnt seem practical. The look of horizontal tube railings appeal to me too.

Has any attempted to build their own cable rail or horizontal tube railing system?

Do you know how to use and own a welder that can weld Stainless steel?
Do you own a horizontal band saw to cut the pieces to length?
Do you own a drill press and know how to drill into the side of a hollow tube?
Do you own a tool for cutting the wire and splicing the sockets on the ends?
Have you taken the time to just price out what just the materials will cost? Steel right now is at an all time high.
There's dozens of places selling that style railing system, keep looking for a better price.

There are pre-drilled/ready-to-install stainless steel railing kits available in the market that do not need any welding.
