I have this ceiling fan that one day stopped working. Neither the fan nor the light is working. The wall switch is a dual one that switches on another set of ceiling lights -- those work fine. I suspect the switch is OK. So what else could be wrong? To figure it out, do I need to get into the attic or inspect from the bottom? Can the problem be in the wiring harness? The yellow box looks like a remote, and if so, does it also no work?

1st, there should be a remote device somewhere that controls the fan/light functions. Do you have it, because it could be turned off, even inadvertently.

If there is not a remote present you can remove the device from the fan housing and reconnect the conductors so that the fan is controlled from the wall switch and the pull cords on the device.
