Our house has a central vac system - older - ie: no low voltage to the hose connectors. Would it be possible to update the system? The can & motor are good, the plumbing is good. The power head is ... well ... could be replaced.(should). The pain is if we do the head had the 110 cord external to the hose and held in place with rubber rings (and tape).

I'm thinking  that I could replace the power head (if I can even find it) and replace all of the hose connectors. Anyone been there? Thanks.

There are new and cheap central vacuum cleaner now. I suggest you should buy new. It saves electricity.
