We are currently renting a house that is very outdated. Our kitchen has countertops with seemingly floor tile and isn’t sealed. We are wanting to put something a little nicer without ripping it up. I have read about contact paper but I don’t think it would work due to texture. My landlord is ok with us doing some improvements as long as they aren’t major. Any ideas on what we can do?

It is common for rentals to use large floor tiles for counter tops because it is the cheapest way to go.

Sticking something over them is just going to make a mess and wont stand up to usage and some of that stuff is really hard to get off.

I would suggest living with the tile as it is a rental maybe buying some large cutting boards for work surfaces.
